Framing someone else for the sake of his son sounds like something Ian would do. Especially when he's lost his twin. Oh well, he'll be dead anyway.
If this happens, this is a throwback to the 25th and Bradley, dying, and copping the blame for having killed Archie. Nick will have died by this time, so somehow, I reckon they will frame him as having killed Lucy. The Beales won't think twice about doing this to Dot.

However, either Peter will self-impose an exile on himself, or Ian will tell him to go for a long time. I have no idea what they'll do with Jane the Queen, however, because I'm certain she was mixed up in covering for Peter.

I'm officially ruling Whitney out. Liam's in the flashback episode which can only mean she was with him and there's no way Liam would keep murder secret for a year.

Still team Peter is either the killer or the biggest red herring ever.
Warning: Posts made by The Local Butcher may contain sarcasm, frustrated expressions of fatigue in the face of Eastenders' neverending insanity, desperate and ill-conceived attempts to be funny, controversial opinions and nuts. Not necessarily in that order.

Maybe Dot will agree with it. If she knows he killed Reg.

Whitney might leave the house and Liam asks "where you going?" And that's it.

Liam's inclusion doesn't throw it either way.

The official site did confirm Peter's departure.

Lucy's killer has been leaked!

Bangs gravel on the table and calls the court to order, "Never mind your honrable friends at Walford Web are now presiding, will you please share with them the resident of Albert Square that goaded you into ending the life of Lucy Beale"

Yeah, that's definitely her final moment.

It also pretty much confirms my theory that Lucy was about to leave Walford for a fresh start before she died. She has a notepad on her lap - she's writing a goodbye note. Also note that the jewllery box is beside her on the sofa.

Jane.
Massive thanks to NickM for this wonderful signature! :)

I kinda wish they didn't have to release detailed spoilers or pictures of anniversary week.

Could be Whitney barging into the Beales about to go all psycho.

I'm still keeping an eye on her.

Ooh you know what, I think this story's going to end with a twist on a twist.

I think Peter thinks he killed Lucy, and Jane covered it up thinking Peter did it. But what if the real killer, enter Whitney, struck the final blow in the meantime? Very much a Zoe/Den/Chrissie redux but this time no Sam to see what happened.

This would explain away Peter and Jane's guilt and set up Peter's exit without actually tainting either character forever. The truth will eventually come out about Whitney later in the year leading to her exit. Seems like Shona might be ready to go.

I don't know the logistics of how it would work but I now firmly believe this is how the story will play out. Peter will 'confess' at the end of the the first episode on the 19th and then we'll see the real truth play out in the flashback. Cue shifty background acting from Shona in the live episode on the Friday.

I really hope that in that picture someone hasn't just walked in through the back door as there was CCTV covering the back gate. It's fair enough if they've only shown us CCTV of Lucy, but the police should be aware of anyone who used the back door. If they saw Lucy go inside then that's their last sighting of her and they know Denise was supposedly at home. If someone else went inside then the police would want to know why.

I totally agree. My main disagreement is with the cast lists however. I know they used some trickery when covering up Emma's death, but I find that just releasing them sometimes gives way too much away, especially when they're released with the duff-duff character(s) at the top.

I'm over the moon to be getting the flashback episode, and now we're so close I'm struggling to contain myself, but you know what would complete me? Alternate scenes of all the suspects killing Lucy. Even the thought gives me shivers.

I think she is sitting there and taking a hit. Someone has walked in and surprised her (or Peter has asked why is she taking it in a place where anyone could walk in and see), the person has been concerned about her taking it and an argument has broken out.
A scuffle and then "bop".

Now someone has to take a body 1 mile. Lucy was of small frame and light. But as any martial arts person will tell you, once the air has been expelled from a body, it is lead weight, regardless. (try it. Find a friend, stand behind them and pick them up. Then, get them to exhale as much air as possible, and then try and pick them up again, bet you either cant, or its a lot more difficult). Peter is pretty strong, but I doubt even he could carry a dead weight that far over uneven ground.
She had to be transported. Weather that was on an empty fruit and veg barrow, a supermarket trolley, or in a car, I dont know. By the position the body was left in, it was done by someone who cared about her.

Ian, Jane, Peter or Cindy.

I am now thinking about Cindy. What did she come back for, apart from providing a new Mitchell? She is sneaky, jealous and there hasnt been much spotlight on her. Why Jane would cover for her, I dont know.

I wonder what else we havent been shown?
Just livin' in perfect New Zealand!

Cindi doesn't have any great love for anyone, leaving the body and relishing the horror of it being found would be up her street.

For what reason could you barge in on someone?? If we crack that we can suss things out :P
