Peter is such an easy way out - he can just leave afterwards...
So could any of the characters, if the actor has decided to leave and they purposefully haven't announced it. That's what I'm bracing myself for. Fingers crossed it's not Adam, Diane or Jake.

Another reason I don't think it's Peter is that hopefully they have learned from Stacey's return. Peter needs to be able to return to the show in the future without this dark cloud hanging over him.

Do people think its defiantly a Beale still. I think it is because DTC said he hopes the viewers will say that makes sense and that is very upsetting and is very clever would it be upsetting, clever and make sense if its Abi, Max, Ben, Jay, Denise, Pam, Les, Lee or Whitney?

I don't want it to be Whitney because that would mean her mum, dad, uncle and aunty will all be killers then.

Debra's not a killer and I didn't think her dead dad was either? And do we know of an uncle/aunt?

I think MG was referring to Lily.
"I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver

EIGHT. DAYS.

So close now, for the past two or three weeks I've been convinced it's a Beale as I think anyone else wouldn't be much of a shock as her own family but since earlier today I'm thinking a Beale is too obvious. I don't want it to be Ian or Peter anyway. Clearly thinking about it too much. Probably best to just leave it now.

Can't wait though.

If Lucy's disturbed by her killer when writing the note I'm not sure it's Peter. After what he overheard I just can't see him wanting to go anywhere near the house that same night- unless angry and high on cocaine.

I think Lucy could have been writing a suicide note. Given her state of mind that week, her insecurities revealed to Lee, and her fallouts with Ian and Peter, I think it makes sense. Emphasis has been placed on not the who, but the why, being the main shock, and if Lucy was killed by someone trying stop her suicide I don't know if her death could be any more tragic. Based on that, I'm thinking Cindy, but she's been so quiet these past few months I can't help but feel it an anti-climax. Jane seems almost too obvious, and with Peter leaving would destroy the Beales once more. Abi's too obvious and many people would be in uproar. Denise was upstairs and almost certainly in the house when Lucy died, but I can't see her as the killer either.

For the most part I've given up trying to work it out, because I know I can't. Hats off the producers, they really have created an unsolvable mystery. I just hope it's been unsolvable for the right reasons.

I was referring to Lily. That would not be good for a 4 year old

Also Whitney has been quiet as well.

Also if Cindy did it that would be sad and someone like Peter or Jane would cover for Cindy because of Beth and also Emma said to the person not to negotiate so maybe Cindy was using Beth as an excuse.

Also this is who the cast think killed Lucy

Honestly, at first I believed it was Whitney since she reacted the strongest negatively and was gone for long periods of time. I would like it to be Jane and I'm still hoping it is. However I think its gonna be Peter.

I've got a feeling Lauren will get her guess wrong. She'll think it's Ian, send the card to Jane saying so, forcing Jane into a situation where she has to tell the truth.

I think they're going to keep twisting it right up until the last second. And I wouldn't at all be surprised if there is more than person involved. The various Jane/Cindy links that we've had over the last few months alone ring quite a few alarms.

What's On TV says that next Wednesday
Spoiler: click to toggle

My initial reaction is to doubt that suspect's involvement, but it really on depends on how it's shown.

I really can't make a final guess. Even next Thursday I'll feel like I'm taking a shot in the dark.

I'm half excited to get it over with, half sad that it is coming to an end. If the storyline has done nothing else it's acted acted a great backdrop to everything else that has been going on, so that the show always has something to fall back on. I wonder if we're going to get a similar headline storyline soon? I personally hope so.

The half hour between the episode and flashback on Thursday on here will be INSANE with last minute 'how events unfolded' theories (unless we all break the server!)
Isn't it an hour between the hour episode and the flashback?! That's more speculation time and I have to say I've seriously enjoyed all of your comments, evidence and purely brilliant speculation. So I hope you don't mind me joining in for the last hour of the investigation on Thursday and then the "oh my gods" and gasps after at 10pm :)

Your post made me go "yes" :D it will be awesome.

Yes it is an hour my bad - they've slotted Death in Paradise between. I can imagine activity on here and similar forums to be quite lively.

Some of the theories are sooo convincing that maybe, just maybe, somebody has almost managed to work it out! That would be hilarious actually.

I agree, it'll be a fun celebration of 30 years!!

There's that many theories on here that, in accordance with the Infinite Monkey Theorem, somebody must have got it right!!
Happy Christmas Ange.

Normally I should be home from work in time (especially given the time difference between Belgium and the UK, which means the "regular" EastEnders timeslots are 8.30 and 9.00 for me), but I'm keeping my fingers crossed I won't have to do overtime next week.

I've even managed to postpone a visit from my in-laws next week, so here's hoping it will be clear sailing!
