Why was the front door open when Jane got to the house if the killer had been up in bed in his pyjamas? |

The reaction to this hasn't been horror or gravitas at how disturbing it is, it's absolute laughter. Treadwell-Collins has ruined this completely. Not seeing the death was unforgivable too considering we were told we'd know what happened. I guess he is just a bottler and didn't have the guts to actually show a child killing his sister and if he didn't want to do that, maybe he shouldn't have written it. I'm inclined to not really watch until he is out of a job. Edited by Dan, 20 Feb 2015, 10:09.

The only reason the death was not shown was it was too difficult to do live. |

They managed to chuck Bradley off a roof for the 25th - I'm sure they could have clonked Lucy on the head. |

Lauren or Max. I'm guessing Lauren as Max would be the one to help move Lucy's body after being made to think Abi killed her. Lauren gets let in by Bobby who says he found Lucy like this. Lauren panics, runs out the house. |

I would rather it be Bobby than Cindi, this has got potential for high drama to follow and if Bobby raises his voice or hand again Phil can pack him off to Nana Kathy ;-) |

It would still be poor that we didn't see the death (if it was too hard to portray, don't make it live, pre-record the death scene) but the only way they can save this is if Denise's beating was the thing that actually killed her. Lucy looked dazed, glazed over and out of it after Denise's attack and that wasn't due to drugs as she hadn't had any, her text to Peter remained unsent. She could have already had massive injuries and then Bobby hit her with the jewellery box and something that would usually be not fatal ended up being fatal because of Denise. But who am I kidding? DTC won't go there. He'd rather portray the ridiculous, sensationalist story of the eleven year old having done it. |

Something else which prevented them from filming the death scene is we would have known who the killer was before the duff duff. They wanted that reveal to be at the end. |

True and that would mean that satisfying the audience was sacrificed for sensationalism. Figures. |

The aftermath is going to focus more on Ian and Jane than Bobby, so although it's annoying not to see the actual death I can see why they decided to show it from Jane's point of view. It also lets the characters speculate about exactly what happened with us feeling the same way as them as we didn't see it either. |

One theory was right through. Lucy was not planning on returning to Walford and that sad look she gave was her saying good bye. |

I wouldn't be surprised if Denise's attack had a major hand in it, there was one point after where Lucy stood up where I thought she was just going to keel over |

That photo above really typifies the public reaction to the reveal. It's being treated as a joke and ridiculous, not clever. |

I also think that the actual death wasn't shown so as for last night's duff duff to lead into tonight's, but without Jane repeating to Ian exactly what we saw in the flashback. Presumably she'll tell Ian why Bobby thinks that Lucy started it, what the letter contained, and whether she had any assistance in moving Lucy's body to the common. I'm thinking that Max or someone else actually interrupted Lucy writing the note, rather than Lucy. "It's you," didn't seem to me something she'd say to Bobby. I think Bobby overheard that conversation also. Edited by Kim, 20 Feb 2015, 18:53.

I feel less disappointed after having time to digest it. If the story goes in an interesting way in terms of the Beale dynamic, it could be good. It also means we don't have another adult murderer swanning around the Square. So I'm reserving judgment at the moment. Let's see how this plays out. I could never imagine life without EE so to read that people are considering switching off after last night's two reveals is sad to see. I don't know how you could do it personally. I love this show too damn much. |
