Who Killed Lucy?; All the theories

'Upsetting' could also suggest mistaken identity, if Lucy died for nothing.

I still can't call it. Peter and Ronnie are my best guesses at the moment though, and I'm keeping an eye on Cindy when she returns. Has there ever been a whodunnit that's so hard to figure out? We've not even had the curveball yet. Thrilling stuff.

I think the upsetting part will have something to do with the moving of the body. As in Broadchurch...

Although Jane is not my first choice can anyone remind me if there are any reasons why it can't be her (in a practical sense rather than psychological motive etc)?

At the moment I'm seriously thinking it is Dean.

If you type "who" into Google the first suggestion is "Who killed Lucy Beale?" :D

There aren't any unless she has a credible alibi, but nothing has really been established on-screen. She knew about the cocaine, and Lucy's killer only needed reason to confront her rather than any murderous intentions. It's still so hard to rule people out.

Not being funny, but sometimes when the police want the family to do a televised appeal, their suspicions lie on the person who actually - er - does the appeal. There have been countless times a family member has made a tearful appeal for information, only to be arrested for the crime, itself, subsequently.

Maybe they suspect Ian. Or Peter.
Nail on the head by the looks of today's spoilers. Looking forward to how this plays out. Also happy that Phil is still supporting Ian.
Shamelessness, maybe you can answer this: Wasn't there a press appeal, or at least a local news item, when Vicky Fowler was kidnapped as a child?

Every time I hit the 'upsetting' stumbling block, I always seem to find a reason why it would be upsetting, so DTC's statement was actually irrelevant in that sense. Any of her family killing her would be the most 'upsetting' though.
I would associate 'upsetting' with a tragic (unintended) scenario that implicates Lucy's nearest and dearest. In that case we will undoubtedly be presented with mitigating circumstances. Peter and Ian are hardly cold blooded murderers.
If the killer turns out to be either Nick or Aleks, that will be the biggest con ever in the history of the show.

I think, in centering around the Beales, the police are going on the premise that most murder victims know their murderers, and a lot of their murderers are particularly close to home. Under normal circumstances, the bizzies would have been all over Ian and Peter like bad rashes from the getgo. We still don't know Peter's whereabouts on that night.

If it helps John Yorke mentions Michelle Fowler's press conference about this in his book Into the Woods.

I think there was a press appeal for Vicki but I don't think Michelle spoke. I think it was the investigating officers. Carol Jackson spoke in the press appeal for Billy in 1997, that was an emotional scene.

Didn't Carol appear on Crimewatch or something (not the real one) or am I imagining this?

Carol made a television appeal a few days after Billys kidnapping. It cut to Ricky and Bianca watching from home with Diane, Mark an Ruth watching with little Jessie whilst Huw, Lenny, Mary and Joe watched in the cafe.

It was something along the lines of "if anybody has any information, anything at all, please go to the police. It's his birthday next week, I've baked him a cake. To those of you who have him, please don't hurt my baby, he's only 8. Please don't hurt my baby."

It was also the week that Carol Jackson joined theeader board for most consecutive duff duffs.

The leader board, one with Michelle Fowler and Frank Butcher, Carol has received the most duff duffs in a row. 6, I think.

It's weird to think this time two years ago "Who shagged Kat" was the long running Whodunnit on the show....

"I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver
