If it doesn't turn out to be Jay on that bus, I'll eat my (beanie) hat. It was an interesting piece of footage though. Neither Jay nor Lucy acknowledged one another at all, with Jay sitting away from her on the bus but when Lucy got off, she was clearly unnerved by something, and then her and Jay proceeded to walk in the same direction. It was almost as if they both knew the other was there but they wanted to pretend that they didn't know one another, but perhaps that's a bit far-fetched. I think it's got to be something to do with Ben but what nterests me is why Jay hasn't come forward up to now. He could have easily gone to the police and said he saw Lucy on the bus on the way to seeing a mate - Phil needn't have ever known he was going to see Ben. So perhaps there's something more to it than just seeing Ben. Can anyone remember how Jay was acting in the episode after her death? At the moment, however, my money's firmly on Lola to be the killer. I'm sure that'll change a few dozen times between now and February though. Edited by Mr Branning, 12 Aug 2014, 20:43.

I don't think they'd seen each other until they got off when Lucy proceeded to give Jay one of her signature filthy looks. When Jay gets off he seems to jog, suggesting that he intended to catch up with Lucy to have a chat. So was that footage before Lucy met Jake... so long before she died? |

Jay bought some cleaning materials in the Monday episode, claiming they were to clear up after Ronnie's house party. I think that's the only time we saw him, but at the time everyone was more interested in Abi's behaviour. I think Phil might know Jay was on the bus, but not why. He gets pretty angry about everyone watching the appeal, and I'm not sure it's just to save Ian some privacy. |

The footage was from 8.22, so at least an hour before she returned to Walford and died. |

That's the only thing that confuses me - this is before Lucy even met Jake, so for all intents and purposes, they know exactly what she did when she got off that bus. Unless they believe someone followed her off the bus and back to Walford, but they'd have to be pretty persistent to have done that. Do they still think she was killed in Jake's flat? I was really hoping DI Keeble would run through every minor detail, especially as I missed a month of episodes. We need a 'What we know so far...' video or something, what with all these twists and turns. |

I think Jay might have been going to visit Ben that night. |

![]() Looks more like Peter than Jay to me. Whoever it was, Lucy definitely saw him before she got off the bus. That definitely looks like a black eye on Lucy.

I think they are way too skinny to be Peter but I agree - whoever it is, Lucy definitely sees them before she gets off and seems to be in a hurry to leave once she's seen them. Lucy's body didn't have a black eye in the mortuary as far as I can recall, did it? And I can't imagine the bruise would subside after one night. That's what makes me lean more towards mascara, especially as this will be just after she's had confrontations with Max, Billy, Lee(?) and anyone else we don't yet know about. |

I wouldn't focus to much on that. Jay's face isn't supposed to appear in this scene so they probably shot the scene with an extra rather than Jamie himself. |

If Jay was going to meet Ben then I could understand why he wouldn't speak to Lucy on the bus. He wouldn't want anyone to know where he was going, especially someone related to Ben. They could have spoken to each after getting off the bus if Jay realised Lucy had seen him. If Ben was in the same area then Lucy could have met him too. If Ben (and maybe Jay) were still in the area after Lucy died, could they have seen something and not gone to the police as Ben had just got out of prison for killing someone else? It would be a reason why someone could be a witness but not want to get involved. |

I think Rainie will end up being the murderer's next victim. |

Could the guy in the hoodie be Ben, on his way to meet Jay? Albeit without glasses, but maybe he quickly took them off when he noticed Lucy, for fear she would recognise him (despite the new head)...? |

If that were Jay, I imagine he was on his way to see Ben and that this was the first time Ben had got in touch with him. Phil was right in one thing he said to Ian this episode - the police are suspicious of Ian. That's exactly why they arranged the press conference and why they deliberately leaked the information about Lucy's drug use to the press. They wanted Ian's reaction because they suspect Lucy may have been murdered by someone close to her, or they're not believing Ian in entirety. How many times in real time do people do these appeals, and the next thing you hear is the person who's done it is charged with murder? Also, in real time, the police would have been all over both Ian and Peter like a bad rash from the getgo. They would have been the first suspects, especially since Ian revealed that he and Lucy had a quarrel that evening. |

I'd forgotten about Jay & Lucy's history. Long time ago mind, but didn't he mug her back when she had a different head? Probably completely irrelevant now but just putting it out there. That's definitely mascara running from Lucy's eyes. Someone's upset her and I don't think it was Billy. |

He did indeed. I don't think she ever found out that he was behind it though. |

How great would it be if they did a fictional Crimewatch segment reconstructing Lucy's murder and the events leading up to it? |

One of the most striking scenes in Broachurch IMO was the one where the Latimer family and their friends and acquaintances follow the young boy acting as the deceased through the town as part of the reconstruction. Something like that would be wonderful. |

It really would be great. It would allow us to gather everything we know so far into one place and would add a great touch of realism. Perhaps they could get Melissa Suffield to play the reconstructed Lucy.

And let's not forget that we still need to know what Billy was doing with those pictures and why Shabnam felt the need to take the 'ROT IN HELL' note out of the bin. They could just be there to throw us off the scent, or they may have been placed there for a distinct reason. Peter and the Masoods are at the very top of my list for the next secret/revelation/involvement. I think the latter will come around when Jane's back. Once the story is done, I'd love to see all of the great mystery stuff pieced together in a compilation. It'd make for a great film. |

It's pretty much a given that we will get an EE Revealed or some sort of special for the 30th, right? |
