I read somewhere that the killer leaves a Christmas message for the Beales, so that would fit in with that. Exciting times.
Why would the Killer leave a message unless their a psycho. That would rule out Lola and Jane for a start because that would be totally out of character.
I am hoping for many twists on Christmas Day and if there is no surprise return during the Christmas fortnight I will eat my hat. We have had surprise returns on Christmas day before(Tanya, Sam) so surely they will be some this year.

Whitney's already left a message for the Beales (which was intercepted by Tamwar and swiftly forgotten about) so she's my first guess for whoever leaves them a Christmas message.

Would they have gone for such an obvious clue to the killer?
Anyway I have a felling Whitney will be suspected next week by Lee.
Wouldn't it be shocking if they reveal the Killer before the anniversary as a huge twist.

All of those little open ended plot twists that you just can't forget about. Aleks giving Honey the tablet, Shabnam taking the note out of the bin etc.

If it's not Ian then he'll be the biggest red herring, after Peter. It's just that I can't think of anyone who would make an impact on me after that if it's not them. There honestly aren't anyone else I'd be that bothered about.

Ben is new (face) and has been to prison for murder before, Ronnie would be repetitive and a cliche, Nick would be beyond a cliche and outside all bounds of reality.

I get the feeling I won't be finding the reveal very exciting, though the murder and aftermath was really well done.

Ben (Tape recording of Phil talking to Kevin about cut and shuts) for Denise.
Lauren (Though inadvertently in the end; for Bradley.)
Archie toyed with Ian about leaving one for Jane, so that may suggest Ronnie.
Suzy Branning left one in a cracker, so that may suggest someone related to her and/or someone who had Christmas dinner at the Vic back in 2008.

I don't think it'll be a message as such. It could just be used to shorten the suspect list to someone that sent a present to someone in the Beale household.

From next week's What's On TV Christmas preview:

Gift from a murderer?

Ian and the Beales are going to find the festive season particularly tough because it's their first without murdered Lucy. And there are some dramatic developments in the murder case, including an eerie discovery among the Beales' Christmas presents- is it a message from Lucy's killer?

Colour me excited.

Okay what on earth is going on? First we discover Peter is the "mediator" between Lucy and the real drug dealer and now...

Lauren is a suspect? What did Lee mean when he said "I thought she said..."

Things are starting to get serious and I feel this is just the beginning of the end.

Is it just me, or does Peter as a mediator have holes in it? She resumed taking the coke when Ian had his breakdown, so Summer 2012. Peter didn't return until June 2013, so how was she getting the drugs via Peter for that year? Surely she can't have been going off to meet him that regularly.

She was getting drugs in Devon on her own so I presume she was getting them on her own in London.

Watching that phone video, I noticed Ian's car parked outside the Beales' house. It is definitely his because we saw him get out of it last night. I don't want to read too much into it in case it was just a mistake made while filming the scene, but otherwise it sets the time as either before or after Lucy's death. Had Ian been to see Rainie yet? Had Jay already gotten back from Walford Common? And just why was Lauren approaching the house?

The next few weeks look and sound thrilling. My money's on Lee giving Emma the USB stick video, but the 'eerie' Christmas gift has me intrigued.

The cars are not usually on the set so I doubt it was a mistake.

Lauren's good with using technology to get peoples secrets out of them, perhaps she has unwittingly recorded the killer or is the killer herself?

I expect Lauren and Lucy had a fight that night that may have resulted in smashed glass which Lauren had to clear up...

I wonder if it's possible Summerhayes is the killer?

No, the killer is an established character who's been in the show at least a year and connected to numerous characters.
