I'm going with a Mitchell, mainly Ronnie with Ben moving the body, but either one could have done it. The reason is because both have committed murder before. Ben has done his time though and Ronnie has yet to be punished. Also Peggy is returning for the anniversary and strong rumours about Grant returning, that has to mean something big for family if they're both coming back. It took Sam getting locked up for Dens murder for the Mitchell's to return in force. Also Ronnie was scarce seen after Good Friday. And I'm sure Sam Womack originally returned for a short stint until DTC took over from Newman and he said with her we were going to see a journey of how someone becomes a villain. And if it's not Ronnie then there are two unpunished murderers on the square. Plus the two who have done time for it, Ben and (despite 5 months being 5 years I guess) Stacey. |

Going back to when Lauren was talking to the taxi driver.. He said that there was another person present around the time when Lucy helped Jake get home, who conveniently Jake can't remember as he was drunk. So drunk he fell over and couldn't walk when he got out the car. This moment when Jake got out the car is interesting because it sounds probable that he might have blacked out any third person involved between himself the cab driver and Lucy. (I was wondering if Jake could have been targeted by Ben and Jay?... seems a bit apt as Jake would have been unable to defend himself while intoxicated. Then maybe Lucy knew about Jay and Ben's misdoings.) I know I'm grasping straws here. Sadly Peter interrupted their conversation in the café before we could find anything out. So if and only if that we assume they'll be readdressing this point later on, I reckon that it cancels out people such as Ronnie, Whitney ETC. And if the person had actually gotten inside the cab with them, I don't get why Lucy would share a cab with someone she didn't really know or have any personal interaction with. Even people such as Cindy (or Abi) wouldn't go as far out as the common alone. I just think the killer had to have been some able person that she trusted to a degree. Anyway penny for your thoughts and all... the moment's been played down massively! I also don't understand why her ex Danny Pedant hasn't been mentioned as a suspect.. even if he's out of the series. She still took all his money rendering him homeless. Surely that's a motive if anything! |

Interesting thoughts. Maybe Lucy DID know the person who got in the cab? Maybe it was Peter, and that is why he chased off the driver? I hope it is not Danny Pendant, that would be too much like Dennis' murder. |

Danny Pennant was ruled out as a suspect very early on in a throwaway line from Peter. Apparently the police had contacted him and he'd been abroad for weeks and had an alibi. |

I'm definitely getting Abi vibes. Abi vibes and Max vibes. There's a beautiful irony to the idea of Emma living under the killer's roof. I'm avoiding the Christmas thread because I want the death to be a shock, but if it's not Emma I wonder how they will contain what she knows. Of course though, Max and Abi are two people she may protect... |

They tried to distract us from working that out by having Jane go all Mariah on us. Nice try! |
| "I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver | |

It wasn't until the funeral that Max found out that Abi knew about him and Lucy. It seems to be that he got drunk after rowing with her on Good Friday, as he seemed hungover in the following episode. If Abi killed Lucy and Max helped cover it up, he didn't find out until later on. I'm wondering if Lucy went over to the Brannings while Lauren was out looking for her. Max was out of it while Abi and Lucy rowed. The murder took place inside the Branning house and in a panic Abi called Jay for help. Jay knew where Lucy's bag was as he had left it in the Square when he and Ben took the phone, so he headed back for it and then, somehow, he and Ben moved Lucy's body. I will admit there are plenty of holes in there, but that's the theory I'm working on at the moment. |

Abi had a breakdown over dunking Lauren's head in some water. She might be self-righteous, lazy, entitled, arrogant and spoilt but a secret of this magnitude would break Abi and would also break Jay considering how he was and still is over Heather. I think Jay's only involvement was peripheral (in that he met her that night but didn't kill her and doesn't know who did) and that Abi is not guilty at all as it would be a bit of a joke to me if it were her. |

Jane also mentioned to Cindy that she'd been given some presents for Beth. |

The Abi mention seriously moves her up the ranks. When I have time to watch the episode again I'll try and work out who could have given the presents to Jane. |

Hmmm, did Abi react that way, because that is how a normal person would react "oh god, what happened" or was it "oh god, this is how it happened last time and I ended up killing someone?" As for Jay, as much as I like him, he does have a dark side and is good at concealing things. I hope he didnt kill Lucy, and is not too involved, but he could well be. If he is, I hope he gets to stay. For a background character, he is probably one of the most interesting. I still think he could become the next Den Watts. |

sadly, this storyline does not interest me at all...The fact that it's been going on since April only furthers that notion |

I'm becoming more and more convinced it was Jane, although I prefer other storylines over this one anyway. |

It's sometimes come second best to everything else that's been going on and block storylining hasn't helped it, coupled with the fact that the murder victim was unlikeable and her family and friends have used her death as an excuse to behave deplorably. |
