I don't think Jane is the killer.....there is no motive and would make no sense. Also, I think she would be acting a lot differently than she has been.

I don't know that there needs to be a motive? I didn't think it was intentionally cold blooded murder, and from emma meeting the killer, it sounded like it wasn't as clear cut as a straight forward murder (hence her saying it's still murder and the negotiating)

If it's not Jane, Jane knows who it is/what happened. The car, leaving with bobby and then coming back later, getting so involved with the beales (encouraging Ian to talk to peter) hiding lucys things under the floorboards and not insisting on calling the police.

If Jane's car does turn out to be significant, it's worth noting that she took it to the Arches for a service in the 1 December episode (the morning after Denise dug up Lucy's phone) so Ben and Jay's DNA would be in there.

I also thought the negotiation part seems like the work of an older person on behalf of the murderer, a person they would go to great lengths to protect.
Possible. But would a straight-thinking adult really think that continuing to hide the truth wouldn't just make it worse? I could understand that course of action from an adult who was the killer, because they may be more desperate and not thinking clearly. I guess I could understand a parent not thinking straight to protect a child, but both Jane and Max also had a connection to Lucy which is bound to cloud their loyalty - obviously Jane more than Max, who I think would still put his own daughters first.

Obviously the younger characters in the frame here are adults too, but I could see them trying to talk their way out of it.

Although I guess an older character who knows Emma could play to her 'niceness'. I don't mean in a conniving way, but just knowing that she does seem to be a good person and hoping that when she knows the circumstances, she won't want another life ruined
At the end of the day, Lucy was just another bit of skirt for Max so he would definitely protect Lauren and Abi if either had done the deed. Jane is definitely acting strange by hiding Lucy's phone, not wanting Emma to keep on asking questions and saying she saw Lauren on Good Friday so she is hiding something. Is she acting strangely because she knows someone in the Beale household killed Lucy? Possibly because she doesn't want the Beale unit to fall apart especially Ian, I don't know. I don't think a straight thinking adult would cover for another adult unless they had a strong connection.

Bit in bold: I agree, but if we look through the scenes of other characters the same could be said. Because the actor doesn't know who killed Lucy, they can't act as if they are the killer, apart from Whitney and Abi, who have been acting very suspicious since Easter. There was a scene after Archie's death which on reflection doesn't make sense as Stacey gave Bradley a very suspicious look concerning his whereabouts the night Archie died, but she was the killer after all. I wouldn't rule out Jane just yet.

Plus Jane does seem to think she can control everything her way. She's always right. She huffed about ian sending Cindy away, she moaned about him not talking to peter. I can see her covering up lucys death by justifying it to herself that she is right to do it to protect members of the beale family.

I found it interesting that Emma met the killer in the exact spot that Lauren 'unmasked' Abi at Halloween.

Getting one or two chills reading these Jane theories. It fits in to place beautifully.

Thinking about it, Emma could have phoned Jane, said "I know you killed Lucy" Jane would then say look, let me explain, don't go to the police and I'll tell you what really happened. Which would explain why emma said she didn't want to negotiate.

Being as it's Jane and Jane was adamant emma would want to hear the explanation before going to the police they do meet, where Jane explains what happened (where by Jane did not kill Lucy, but explains who did) which would prompt emma to say it's still murder, and to try to encourage her to accompany emma to the police station.

If Jane was covering for Ian, her excuse could be that Ian doesn't remember/is not aware of doing it, therefore he can't confess, and telling him would cause confusion and distress when he has no knowledge of what he's done. That would warrant emma to say that regardless of his mental state or recollection, it's still murder.

I agree with the Jane theories, but I also like the idea of Nick being set up. The tattoo seems like it was included for a reason. Although Jane hasn't been acting like she killed someone, neither has anyone else (except Denise if you put the drinking down to the murder rather than Patrick) and we've missed a lot of her reaction as she's been off-screen. I also think she'd be the best at acting normal after a murder, maybe along with Ben.

Does anyone know when it was announced Waterloo Road was being axed meaning she could return? That and the fact she's been off-screen for half the storyline are the things making me think it's not her. Although I'd quite like her to be the murderer, I'd find it a bit annoying that while people were being suspected originally she wasn't around.

I think waterloo road was axed before or around the time Jane made her very first appearance.

I do also think this going to end up being what gets nick, being framed for.lucys murder.

I read someone mentioned Jane hiding lucys stuff in the floor.made it look like shed hidden stuff there before.

Also, dtc said it would either be the best reveal ever or he'd need to find a new job. Ian as the killer fits that sentiment for sure.

Also to add, rainie as an alibi is.convenient. He was so concerned about.paying her off so Denise didn't find out yet he slept with Jane with no thought to Denise? Unless he was paying her for an alibi? That wouldn't necessarily fit him not knowing what he'd done unless he's aware of a huge black spot in his memory.

I've just found out it was the beginning of April. About six weeks before Lucy died, but surely all the details would have been planned before April. Unless she already knew she was leaving WL anyway.

The car being serviced sounds like it should be important as well. Going back to the trailer that was being discussed a few pages back, the storyline should still include Ian and the rubbish bag and Lauren and the broken glass in the car, which was Jane's car as she was shown with it in the trailer. The car seems important now, but I'm not quite sure how it links to Lauren yet.

Yes you're right, most are acting the same. However, I would say Lauren and Peter have both been acting with unspoken anxiety. As for Abi, she's been very much on the sidelines, with a glimps here and there and no real focus on her!

Ian and Jane catered for Ronnie and Charlie's wedding, which would have kept them both busy the morning that the killer(?) met Emma.

Personally, I think it's either Lauren or Peter (or both) and Max (and potentially Jane) knows what happened. Therefore, are involved in the tangled web that is being unfolded.

Also Denise has her ear to the Beal's floor with that creepy ass spider crawling into frame. This is where Lucy's possessions are currently stashed, under the floor boards. So all the things these suspects are doing seem to link with Jane's movements. Weird.

Could it not be Ian and the car and Lauren and the rubbish? I need my memory refreshing lol

I remember things from the trailer have happened but different people with different things (peter digging in the video vs Denise digging in the show)

The trailer showed:

Ian- white powder (cocaine?)
Peter- digging at the allotment
Denise- floorboards
Jane- broken glass in the car
Lauren- blood
Max- rubbish bag

So far we have seen:

Peter- getting the cocaine for Lucy
Denise- digging up Lucy's phone
Jane- hiding the phone under the floorboards
Max- clearing up Lucy's blood

Lauren has to be the car, if she was the rubbish then her and Max would just be swapping over so the whole thing wouldn't join up.

Perhaps Lauren is the car in the sense that she went to the beales and walked past the spot where Janes car should have been?

Ians and rubbish could come later nearer the reveal.

Wondering if DNA was involved and the washing with a red stain could have linked to the identical outfits Lauren and Lucy we're wearing. Anyone close like Max or Abi knew them to have matching clothes, if they had time the could switch Lucy's incriminating one for Laurens washed one. Seems unrealistic though.
