I think Snakegate got people talking...but not for any good reason!
Don't forget TunaGate . I still can't believe Pete McTighe was responsible for that episode . He does such a great job on Neighbours and Wentworth .

Joe 's Schitzophrenia storyline was huge but I was just a kid then so I wonder if a lot of people were talking about that ? All I remember about that time was that Paul Nicholls was definitely the pin up boy of that era .

I don't remember it being particularly talked about as a story, just the fact that Paul Nicholls was inundated with bags of fantail and got mobbed everywhere he went.

I have to agree the storyline itself wasn't big the character/actor was.
Your approval is neither desired nor required.

Julia Smith "We decided to go for a realistic, fairly outspoken type of drama which could encompass stories about homosexuality, rape, unemployment, racial prejudice, etc., in a believable context. Above all, we wanted realism".

At the time it was all about the paternity of Tiffany's baby and their marriage breakdown. As said before, anything about Tiffany was massive. She was a very very popular character.

Anything about Grant was massive I would say . I never understood the Tiffany thing at all and it's nothing to do with bias . I just didn't get what was so great about her .

Well, she was pretty. she was common. She was a tart with a heart. she was fallible. She came from an abusive background. she just wanted to be loved. she was tragic and vulnerable. Recipe for popularity at the time.

She was pretty much Princess Di in the eyes of the public by the time she went. Quite removed from the bitchy princess we were introduced to at Bianca's party circa 1995.

She was the Stacey of the 90s.

Absolutely - as well as being a masterclass in character development. To think Tiffany started as a recurrent character - the mouthy, material girl friend of Bianca's,and ended one of the best-loved and most sympathetic characters in the show's history. Her death was truly tragic.

Couldn't agree more! Despite her dying just a few months after I was born, I've watched pretty much all of Tiffany's material that's available for viewing on YouTube. I'm gutted she's never been around during my lifetime :( Possibly my favourite EE character ever :$
Massive thanks to NickM for this wonderful signature! :)

That makes me feel old, Ross!!

I idolised her during my teenage years. She was a loveable character, and I really rooted for her and Grant. Ross and Martine had such a chemistry on screen and the good times were really great.

When Grant started sleeping with Louise....wow, Louise was the most hated character ever!!

I don't agree. However, I think they wanted her to be the new Tiffany.

I was at college when Tiffany died and my teenage years watching Easties were the Tiff and Bianca years as well, and Tony and Simon Raymond years. I still have many 1998 and 1999 episodes on VHS which I recorded at the time. I always found Tiffany a great character.

The young set were all pretty solid actually. Tiff, Bi, Tony, Simon...Huw and Lenny were okay, not loved by all, but a good depiction of young men of that time. Robbie, Sarah and Joe. Then Sonia, Clare and later Nicky & Martin. (not Asif though, he was shit.)

I am really seeing a surge in the people I know that are watching it now. I'm seeing numerous tweets and facebook statuses from close friends speculating who killed Lucy, getting angry at Dean or being shocked at all the little twists. Every time some mentions EastEnders, I jump on them and hound them.

After such a horrible few years that we had, it's great to see the resurgence.
