Can anyone post any cancelled EE storylines from over the years? I remember a few like Dawn was supposed to be going blind (hence the glasses subplot). Anyone know any others? |

Whilst not cancelled entirely, Dawn's baby was to be kidnapped by Dr May but was rewritten due to the Madaleine McCann story. Real Walford FC was famously canned by Kathleen Hutchison back in 2004, when she swept into Elstree and began tearing up Louise Berridge's storylines. It was rumoured that the Real Walford FC story was to have a place in the 25th anniversary story that February. Dan Ferreira was to be murdered by his children, as a major storyline for the Ferreira family back in 2003. However, this was cancelled to do the actor's visa being revoked and he was deported. The result was kidneygate, a woefully tedious storyline where Ronny Ferreira was stabbed and needed a kidney transplant. Zoe Slater and Dr Anthony Trueman were to be married in 2002, but was cancelled when Michelle Ryan had to leave the show due to exhaustion. The story was rewritten to show Anthony and Zoe leaving Walford, with Anthony later returning without her. On what was supposed to be the wedding day, Anthony began an affair with Kat Slater. Zoe returned during Christmas 2002, to discover the pair in bed together. The love triangle ended for good soon after. It is said back in the 80s, a story idea was pitched where an IRA bomb was to explode in Walford. However, this was dropped due to objections from cast and others within the BBC. Remember that bizarre story of Shirley (not Carter) her cat and the abusive neighbour? |

That's the one....how utterly bizarre. It all took place off the Square, was almost like a spin off featuring just the Ferreiras. |

Dont know if it was ever thought about as it is the best one I can think of outside ones already mentioned, a storyline where Johnny Allen was to be the father of Phil, Grant or Sam. |

Wasn't Alfie supposed to get Little Mo pregnant back in 2005? Puke. But Bryan Kirkwood thought the idea was so good and did it with Kat/Michael instead. |

I'm sure I read somewhere that the actor who played Gavin, her neighbour from hell, was sacked for taking cocaine. |

Wasn't there meant to be a story of a gay relationship between Lofty Holloway and Nick Cotton originally? Just checked it was the case John Altman disagreed with the plan: http://www.google.co.uk/url?q=http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a444699/eastenders-dropped-nick-cotton-gay-relationship-plot.html&sa=U&ei=FM5XVKPoA8y07gbx7YDQBA&ved=0CBQQFjAA&sig2=yH4mNlijNuLozQhy12f66w&usg=AFQjCNF73ZDyFyMTXeH2MbbSG6JJ9hsShg [edit_reason]Added source[/edit_reason] Edited by Dave Sullivan, 3 Nov 2014, 19:51.

Den Watts being seen falling into the canal after being shot in 1989 was pulled at the last minute by the top boss at the BBC. Counts as a cancelled conclusion to a long running storyline. |

I thought the Dennis and Peggy thing was a rumour as I remember it being denied at the time. And I think it was you? (cant remember) who told me that Jade was supposed to be killed by Lucas but was changed because of the Stephen Griffiths murdering prostitutes case? |

Your approval is neither desired nor required. Julia Smith "We decided to go for a realistic, fairly outspoken type of drama which could encompass stories about homosexuality, rape, unemployment, racial prejudice, etc., in a believable context. Above all, we wanted realism". | |

The original plan was for May to abscond with baby Summer and never return. May was going to keep her and raise her herself. They deliberately wrote it that Dawn did not want the baby if you remember we saw her go for an abortion on three separate occasions and she had to be talked out of it each time. She also tried to kill the baby whilst pregnant by drinking heavily. The only way they could get around having a mother lose her baby and not get her back would be to write it so the mother didn't really want her. However with the disappearance of Madeline McCann the writers felt it would be inappropriate for Summer to be kidnapped and never returned so instead we had Summer returned to Dawn and May sent to prison. This resulted in an extra baby being on set which they had not planned for so Joe Swash who played Mickey Millers new born baby son was used to play Summer as the casting directors didn't have time to find another new born with the scripts being rewritten so hastily. |

No, May kidnaping Summer was the penultimate part of the storyline according to this article http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s3/coronation-street/news/a195839/corrie-plot-not-similar-to-mccann-case.html#~oUA5D2vh8bSaZT |

The Vicki Fowler kidnap was cancelled because of the James Bulger abuction and murder happening at the same time. Vicki was very quickly returned. |

When Shawn Slater first joined he replaced a character called Al, who I always assumed was fired due to the actor not being a pin-up. Shame, as I don't think Shaun was as good a replacement. |

I don't think we've seen the last of Billy stealing the post. It's going to spring up again when we least expect it and wreak havoc in the Square. Nothing will ever be the same again. |

I heard once that Billy was going to be an amateur porn director and his "starlets" were to be Ruby and Stacey! And of course there was the IRA bombing which was to kill Pete and put Wicksy in a wheelchair. |
