I received a message this week asking for Ricky Norwood and Lin Blakley to receive salutes as well as the above. Also, reading the response to the Children in Need thread salutes are in need for writer Matt Evans, director David Moor and producer Sharon Batten...

So, for week 45

Lin Blakely (a second salute in a row duff-duff), Sharon Batten, Hetti Bywater, Michelle Collins, Matt Evans, David Moor, Ricky Norwood, Pam St Clements, Gillian Taylforth, Lacey Turner and Jessie Wallace... WE SALUTE YOU

In light of recent announcements regarding the departures of Sam Strike and Ben Hardy my salute this week will be rather unorthodox. This week rather than saluting individuals or indeed anything pertaining to this week's episodes I'm going to salute a group.

It's natural for people like Sam and Ben to be ambitious and restless and as such longevity is never something we can take for granted with young actors. My salute this week therefore goes to every actor who came into Eastenders at a young age and has stayed on for a significant portion of time.

People like Sue Tully, Sid Owen, Charlie Brooks and Lacey Turner who came in as teenagers and most noteworthy Adam Woodyatt and Letitia Dean who did the same and are still with us 30 years later as well as the likes of Natalie Cassidy, James Alexandrou, Lorna Fitzgerald and Jamie Borthwick who came in as tweens and played their roles into adulthood and those even younger like Casey Ann Rothery and Maisie Smith just to name a few young actors (there are too many to list them all) who have sacrificed a significant portion of their youth and/or childhood just to entertain us. If that doesn't deserve a salute I don't know what does.

Ps. Obviously there's no need to name all these people in the summary. A general young actors who stayed will do.
Warning: Posts made by The Local Butcher may contain sarcasm, frustrated expressions of fatigue in the face of Eastenders' neverending insanity, desperate and ill-conceived attempts to be funny, controversial opinions and nuts. Not necessarily in that order.

Although as he was axed that salute would technically have to go to DTC.

We are cruel people aren't we? :P

This weeks salute of the week goes to Diane Parish, Rudolph Walker and Nitin Ganatra. All are often underused but always excellent meanwhile young Eliot Carrington takes over the role of Bobby and gets a free welcome salute. Here's hoping he'll stick around and be the definitive teenage Bobby like Thomas Law and Melissa Suffield were for Peter and Lucy.

My salute goes to Diane Parish for saving EE from mediocrity this week. She is simply formidable and made me aware how much I love Denise for her fighting spirit and being true to herself in the most difficult of times.

Laurie Brett. Nice to see her back.

Linda and Mick for being absent for most of the week.

Diane Parish (obviously) and also Rudolph Walker. Mimi Keene was also very good even if I can't feel for Cindy.
