Thought it deserved it's own thread.

I'm very pleased about this. I'd also like to see Emma's meeting in the park, and the phone conversations from the other person's point of view.

Yeah the embargo would be in place as a flashback episode is an extremely rare event in British soap opera and rather big news in that respect.

Hmmm, hate to be the bah-humbug as I'm in two minds about this. I'm all for a flashback episode (online) as I feel them showing the flashback scenes in a standard episode is too Hollyoaks-esque, in my opinion. I guess flashback scenes, however they're shown, will be nice to piece the jigsaw of the murder investigation together.

A flashback episode is different though. It can be done in a completely non-cliched way, without gimmicky effects or voiceovers. It can simply be a standalone episode that doesn't have to begin or end with 'this is what happened' by said by XYZ character.

Brilliant. Brilliant brilliant brilliant. This what I've been waiting nine months to hear. Best midnight announcement ever.

More importantly, which will be confirmed at midnight:

Another EE return and this one is dead... That's right, they're resurrecting a dead Beale...

I was slowly losing hope for this to happen, so the news makes me even happier than it would have.

According to Soap Squawk's take on the news, Jake Stone and Rainie Cross will both back for anniversary week.

Did they do a flashback episode when Diane Butcher ran away from home? If they did, I suppose that sets a precedent for them doing another one.

What a shock, I don't think.

It was pretty obvious this would be the case.

Great news.
Really looking froward to this, glad to know Jake and Raine are both back, still wondering if Raine is returning full time though.

Three flashbacks:

1) Nana Moon travelled to Normandy with Alfie. This episode wasn't a complete flashback like the two below but it flashed between current Nana and her as a young woman throughout the episode.

2) When Kate was undercover Phil told her what happened in Portugal with Lisa. 2 eps were then set in flashback covering what had happened six months previously.

3) When Diane Butcher returned after running away we got an episode which charted her journey from the moment she left to the moment she reunited with Frank.

I'm sure there were also a few shots of Kat as a girl. I don't really like flashbacks when they're part of the main episode, but I like them as separate episodes.

Wonder what date this 'flashback episode' will air? Providing the actor or actress who plays Lucy's killer doesn't know yet, I'd predict this episode will be filmed very soon.

It's going to be quite the challenge from a continuity point of view. Danny Boy-Hatchard's hair will have to be thought of... he'll need to cut it at just the right time.

Outfits will need to be spot on. Number 27 will have to rid itself of the fire damage. If Kat appears she'll be pregnant with no burns. Was the Vic painted back red by that point?

Lauren and Johnny could be only possible hurdles though.

It makes you appreciate how carefully they've had to plan everything. I'm so unbelievably perched.

One scene I'm dreading...

Ian and Rainie, the prostitute.
