It's definitely confirmed as Dom has re-tweeted this very thread :)

Am I the only one who isn't finding this as exciting as I should? It really didn't bother me if we saw a flashback episode or not.

I wonder how many pages of the Lucy speculation he has gotten through so far?

Initially I was the same, but as it's a whole episode (and not an normal episode with flashback inserts), I'm coming around to the idea, I hope it isn't airing instead of a standard episode though.

I did hope they would be able to tell the story without resorting to flashbacks but there's so many unanswered questions that I don't mind a flashback episode too much. Glad they've managed to get Hetti, Jamie Lomas and particularly Tanya Franks back for it. It can't be live though because Jacqueline Jossa must be in it?

Hmmm, hate to be the bah-humbug as I'm in two minds about this. I'm all for a flashback episode (online) as I feel them showing the flashback scenes in a standard episode is too Hollyoaks-esque, in my opinion. I guess flashback scenes, however they're shown, will be nice to piece the jigsaw of the murder investigation together.
A flashback episode is different though. It can be done in a completely non-cliched way, without gimmicky effects or voiceovers. It can simply be a standalone episode that doesn't have to begin or end with 'this is what happened' by said by XYZ character.

Brilliant. Brilliant brilliant brilliant. This what I've been waiting nine months to hear. Best midnight announcement ever.
Actually, EastEnders have done a flashback episode - back in 2002. During the Hallowe'en episode, where Laura Beale had a knee-trembler with Garry Hobbs in the alleyway and the Slater house caught on fire (for the first time), killing Trevor and Fireman Tom, Phil Mitchell quietly returned to Walford from Portugal with baby Louise. We then had an hour-long flashback episode to show the encounter between Phil and Lisa in Portugal and how Phil got Louise.

As long as it's one full episode of that night from start to finish I'm happy

I agree, as long as it's one episode of flashback, start to finish without jumping backwards and forwards in time, I can just think of it as a spin-off.

I guess after speculating about her death for so long I'm glad we'll actually get to see it!

At least now it makes sense why Les and Pam have been included in the suspects. I think we'll discover something about the Cokers and exactly why Pam was angry on Good Friday.

I hope the flashback comes after the reveal and isn't the reveal itself.

Pam was angry about Paul not coming to see her and Les as arranged on Good Friday.

I have a feeling Jacqueline Jossa has filmed some of her flashback scenes already. I beleive that small little video we saw of her outside the Beale house is only a snippet of what we will see in the entire flashback episode.

If I dream about EastEnders tonight I think it will prove I need to get out more. ;) Buzzing so much for this.

If Lauren didn't kill Lucy or cover it up, will we actually need to see her in the flashback other than when she goes to the Beale house which she's obviously filmed already? I'm not sure we need to see the party, just people going in and out of the house.

I am absolutely allergic to flashbacks in soaps but I guess the 'who killed Lucy' plot has become so convoluted, it will take an episode (marked as flashback) to expain it all.

We might need to see the house only if she went back there after arriving with Jake and was subsequently killed there. Not sure how plausible that would be, but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

At the appeal the police said Lucy was killed between 21:30 and midnight.

So, apparently Denise arrived home via taxi, she then went upstairs to Ian's bedroom and the time on the clock says 21:45.

I hope to see that particular scene whether she stayed home or went out again.

Another thing I've just realised - I always thought it was strange that Fatboy was doing the impression of Jay in the video and not Dexter (especially since Dexter had previously done one and it was popular) - but Dexter won't be in the flashback episode hence why it had to be Fatboy.

Good memory! Therefore any scene after Denise entering the bedroom and calling Libby to the final scene at the common there was possibly a two to three hour gap? Which in effect means that any of those suspects could have potentially killed Lucy any time between 9:30 and midnight, and in Denise's case after 9:45.

I think after the reveal would definitely be better however I can picture something like that Phil/Lisa flashback episode where it starts with a character going "so this is how it happened" and we see it played out - then perhaps the twist at the end being the person who killed Lucy not being the one explaining the events.

I'm not one for flashbacks but I think they can get away with it in this case - the only problem is they have to be careful with consistency, I can see the YouTube videos pointing out random things like different clothes etc.
