I hope I don't come across as a bore here! I really enjoyed the themes behind it. And the shots (especially the one in the chippy) was so insanely chilling.

I just wasn't fond of the Lucy shot and I do get why some people are touchy about the tone set for the story. But this is an event, and it is being promoted as a blockbuster. I personally appreciate that.
"I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver

It's a trailer. They're not saying death is funny. Just like the everybody hurts trailer didn't suggest that all rape victims sit in a bathtub belting out R.E.M.
Was the everybody hurts trailer supposed to be funny?
I am certain this trailer was dark comedy.
Like I said don't mind the off the wall trailer but it was hilarious. Not sure that was the image they were trying to portray or I hope not.
No, and neither was this one. This one was showing that Lucy is still haunting the people of the Square even the she is dead, and showing her watching over them on the roof.

Quoting limited to 2 levels deep
Surely that's just down to your sense of humour? I'm sure to the majority it wasn't really funny, it was quite creepy and I think there was a deeper meaning to it. Could just be me though.
Maybe it was just me and my aunt thought it was funny, maybe I don't get good classical horror. My aunt was saying that's intentional dark comedy. She liked it because it was funny. I didn't like it but that was the appeal.
If I wanted to be scared Hitchcock is more my cup of tea.
Your approval is neither desired nor required.

Julia Smith "We decided to go for a realistic, fairly outspoken type of drama which could encompass stories about homosexuality, rape, unemployment, racial prejudice, etc., in a believable context. Above all, we wanted realism".

I'm beginning to wonder why you watch. You're never satisfied so it must feel quite the chore to commit 2 hours a week to a show you're not enjoying?

Fair enough, I don't think the intention was to scare, it was just there to be a bit chilling, create a sense of anticipation and excitement, and highlight how Lucy still "haunts" the mind of whoever killed her.

Things I think are significant:

1. Jane is wearing red lipstick
2. There's a shot of Ian looking in Jane's direction, shocked
3. Denise is shot from behind
4. Ben and Jay are lurking near Jane's car
5. Emphasis on the gate/gardens
6. Whitney is the last person seen in their own shot before Lucy

From this "evidence" my theory is Jane thinks Ben/Jay killed Lucy and is covering for them, but really Whitney dealt the killer blow. With the gate.

I just adore that scene in the chippy. The baby's cry was perfectly timed! Future Meryl right there.

Thanks for telling me how I think. I didn't enjoy the trailer but I have praised many elements. Check out the new years thread. I don't need to like the accepted view to enjoy the show. Not sure why you had to make it personal lets keep it friendly :)

Jane's car appears again. There must be some significance to it!

I suppose it couldn't be too scary for pre-watershed viewing.

Still, I liked it. Of course, it is not as good as There's a Killer Amongst Them, but that is my all-time favourite.

I could practically hear the NetMums mouths salivating watching it.

Not personal at all, was a genuine and sincere question. Likewise I wasn't telling you how to think, just an honest question based on an observation.

Thank you for responding though.

My interpretation of that is Ben and Jay saw Lucy's body on the common, meaning they were near Jane's car which was used to move her body. Denise was in the house when Lucy was killed, and her being shot from behind suggests she was close to what happened but didn't see anything. I was convinced Whitney wasn't involved so I'm not sure about her relevance in the trailer.

Was it supposed to be scary or dark comedy? My aunt and I were ending ourselves. Was it supposed to be just the suspects? I am confused because Mick and Linda were the only ones not on the list there?
Sharon was in there too. I think it was just supposed to be everyone.

I can't say I found it creepy (and I am a huge wimp) I thought it was a bit cringey to be honest.
Sharon is in the original trailer and apart of the original suspect list, putting something in the martini glass? but she isn't involved in the storyline at all. (apart from comforting Ian).

Basically sums up Stacey's place so far since her return. Love it.
