Would have made so much more sense if it was Tanya since we know she is coming back.

To be fair, Jane and Sonia were pretty friendly back in 04-06.

They're both married to/getting married to/separated from a Beale descendant.

Sonia is Jane's soon-to-be-ex-cousin-in-law, so at least she's keeping it in the family.

"I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver

I assume anniversary week will see the return of Martin and Rebecca, at least as wedding guests surely?

Yeah, I'm starting to wonder if they really are packing everything into the anniversary week. We're told that it is an ensemble week and maybe that literally true. We know the Beales, Mitchells and Cottons are big. The Brannings are involved via the Beales and Tanya's return. Perhaps Kim will give birth, Martin will return, possibly the start of Kat's story, something with the Carters and something with the Masoods? I don't know, I just get that feeling.

What on earth indeed. It's not like they've remembered they were friendly before until now, and with Tanya back, it seems natural that it should be her.

Well its a week of revelations so Kat revelations may well be one. Shabnhams secret may be revealed to someone else or everyone as well or even a shock Zainab return.
And Dot will find out Nick killed Reg.
Plus the whole of the Lucy mystery

Sonia, who lied about leaving for a stomach stapling after stealing charity money, who told her ex she doesn't love him when he clearly wanted to patch it up, and has teased about with Tina whilst constantly looking like her eyebrows are about to grow together and she's in a perpetual state of constipation...
Yes, that's who any woman would want as a Matron of Honour... ^o)

Martin is Ian's cousin. I know Ian hasn't mentioned Martin, even in passing, but Martin did make the attempt to visit him when he returned to the Square, and Sonia's done nothing but trash-mouth Martin and as less than polite to Ian when he asked her to help in the opening of the restaurant, and all of a sudden, she's on bumper-friendly terms with Jane?

As for Sharon, has she conveniently forgotten that Ian and Jane were well-prepared to nick the pub on the cheap from Sharon by trying to buy it from a fleeing Chrissie a decade ago?
