I also agree that her initial return was a mess, but it has actually made Stacey the great character (2.0) she is now. If she hadn't have confessed, I doubt us viewers would have welcomed her back as warmly.

The grown up Stacey has been written extremely well. However, it would have been interesting to see her come back at a different time, when so many characters that she interacted with or at least knew of (Kat, Alfie, Mo, Dean, Shabnam) weren't in the show. How would she have coped then?
She'd have been fine, as Lacey Turner is a very rare breed of actress who can work with literally anyone in any situation.

Mostly fine, despite the unrealistic parts (I still don't know why she wasn't given more than 5 years for killing Archie if her bi-polar was just going to get her out anyway.)

I think she has turned into the authority on everything to soon though, so that's holding her popularity with me down.

Unfortunately for me, I went off of Stacey with Stax and nothing she did for the rest of that stint improved things much.

I loved Stacey from the moment she appeared and only truly switched off during her affair with Ryan (you can't hate/blame a character for poor writing). It is simply amazing to have her back, more confident than ever.

Her return was a bit of a mess, they dragged it out to much in my opinion and because of that I wasn't convinced her character would work back in the square
But she's fitted back in well. She hasn't taken over but is involved in the show enough. I love her friendship with Shabnam, that was a brilliant idea. The only thing I hate is when she's on the stall with Kat. They both become bitches and it's not nice to watch.
I would like to see her build more friendships and as well interact with characters that were on the Square in her first stint
Just like Sonia's return, after her initial comeback I think she's has fitted back into the Square (and the show) nicely.
I love Stacey, have done since her first episode in 2004 and think I always will.
Also I know she's credited as Branning but to me she will always be a slater, just like Kat will always be a Slater and Sharon will always be a Watts.
The girl is slater through and through!
Happy first anniversary Stacey, welcome back and please don't leave again.

Glad Stacey is dividing opinion on the forums again, it is what she does best.

I don't get some moaning about her current role, it is funny how she knows all these secrets and I can understand how some think she's being shoe horned, but she's connected to some of those who have chosen to get advice about their secrets. You can't have it both ways saying that her new role is annoying, when some were crying out for a character progression when she returned because there were things they didn't agree about her attitude or choices in her first stint and now it is happening with her trying to mature and learn from said mistakes.

So far I think DTC has got it right on.. I hope he brings back her feisty side! For now she seems content with her life, but I get the feeling they are setting the character up for a fall when she finally gets her own storyline, which hopefully will be after all the anniversary stuff etc is out of the way or later on.

I don't think a 29 to 1 split can be classed as dividing opinion!

I wasn't referring to just here. DS (which I read for info, not a member there).

DS always has polarizing opinions. Last time I checked there, there was a topic on how to get the very much dead Kathy brought back.
