Brian?
Was gonna say...

I know Brian was Stacey's dads name, but it's hardly the name for a baby in the 21st century :$
Eh what's wrong with Brian?

Would you prefer Tyler? Don't tell Katie Hopkins!

Nothing is "wrong" with Brian. And I never stayed there was.

I simply meant that it's a rather odd name to give a newborn baby in this day and age. And a name I can't see either Martin or, particularly, Stacey wanting to give their baby. :)

'Artie' in memory of Arthur would be much more fitting, and I can imagine both Martin and Stacey liking that name. Martin, Stacey, Rebecca, Lily and Artie Fowler. Chills.
Massive thanks to NickM for this wonderful signature! :)

Can't see Stace settling for a name that sound so uncannily like Archie, though... What I can see happening is a Paulie! :D

Oh well... we've still got a while to think up names for the babies of a potential future couple one half of which is not even living on the Square yet.

Although I do think "Dr Legg Fowler" has a nice nostalgic ring to it. As does "Roly Slater". :P

Peter Beale was named after his grandfather. Ian Beale's middle name belonged to his grandfather. As far as trendy names go, what could be more traditional than Albert and Ernest, the Moons' twin boys' names? One of Bianca's children was named after her deceased best friend, Tiffany.

Me neither. Quite honestly, I would choose Brian over Albert, Ernest, Oscar, Dexter or Ian.

Then again, I'm American, so maybe I just have different tastes.

Tbh I am never big on all these kids being named after classic characters. It never happens this much in real life.
It never happens that much in the show either. It's just that all the fans always bring up the names of old characters when guessing the names of new babies.
Doesn't it? Little Ali, Peter, Mark, Cindy, Louise, Viv, Denny, Tiffany, William, Richard, James... and those are just off the top of my head! Even Amy was namer after Danielle.

Lucy was originally after Cindy's mum until they changed her name to Bev.

Little Mo, Jack Evans (Natalie's brother), Janet (Honey and Billy's mums, but only Honey's was referenced on screen), Freddie (Charlie's dad Frederick), TJ Spraggan, Mickey Miller, Alfie, Charlie Cotton, Den/Dennis/Denny, Johnny Carter... All named after family members.

Quite a few more but from the current cast:

Ian Albert Beale (middle name for his paternal grandfather)
Martin Albert Fowler (middle name for his paternal grandfather)
Philip James Mitchell II (named for his paternal grandfather)
Peter Beale II (named for his paternal grandfather)
Cindy Williams II (named for her mother)
Alfred William Moon Jr. (named for his father and paternal grandfather)
Lauren Branning (name from her mother's middle name)
Veronica Elizabeth Mitchell (middle name MIGHT be for her great-grandmother Betty Mitchell, since Betty is a nickname for Elizabeth)
Charlie Cotton II (named for his paternal grandfather)
Janet Mitchell (named for both paternal and maternal grandmothers)
Amy Christina Margaret Mitchell (Amy is for her maternal cousin who was original born Amy Mitchell, not sure where Christina came from and Margaret might be for her grandaunt by marriage)
Thomas Alfred Charles Moon (not sure where Thomas comes from, but Alfred is for his stepfather, step grandfather, and his paternal great-great-great-grandfather. Charles for his maternal grandfather)
Alexa Billie Pearce (Alexa for Lola's friend, Billie for her maternal great-grandfather)
Dennis Rickman Jr. (father, paternal grandfather and paternal great-grandfather. Den was a Jr.)
Lucy Katherine Beale (named for her paternal grandmother)

Tommy's name is Tommy, not Thomas. Same with Lexi.

Amy's middle names are after Christian and Peggy.

I have only ever come across one person who was named after somebody else in their first names. Being named after somebody else via middle name is a little more common.

Forgot one. Nick's middle name is after his father, so Charlie was named for his father and his paternal grandfather.
