I really hope this isn't true. If it is it will be used over and over again as a reason to hate on Shirley like those comments Danny Dyer made in that lads mag are.
Dyer was a total idiot and the reaction he got was thoroughly deserved.

People constantly confuse actors with their soap characters. That's happened to Steve McFadden so much that he's actually been stabbed because people think he is as hard as the character he plays.

OMG! Really? I've never heard that before. That is disgusting >:(

Who are these bloody numpties who can't separate fact from fiction? An actor from his role?

This is extremely unfortunate, both for Linda and the show.

The timing of course, could not be worse given the fact the show is in full throttle preparing for the 30th anniversary.

I think however, the anniversary might not be as Carter heavy as it will be just after a Carter-centric Christmas.

With regards Linda, I sincerely hope this isn't true.
Obviously, I would give the majority of people enough credit to be intelligient enough to seperate Linda from Shirley. However, there are the minority who confuse the actor with their character.

I think most people on here who dislike Shirley the character, have given valid reasons.

The guy who played John Stape on Corrie was attacked after the pedophile story.

I remember a big part of Alex Ferns' decision to leave EastEnders was because he got so much hate mail and hatred in the street. Must be horrible.

I've met Linda so I know this isn't true because she posed for a photo and asked how my day was.

I for one, hope this isn't true. It could have happened or it could be widely exaggerated, we don't know and without the full details being released, we can't judge. We can't judge her or the accuser.
I would be shocked should it be true as it is the complete opposite to Linda's reputation. A lot of people may mix up Shirley and Linda and therefore automatically believe it's true although Shirley is Linda's job, she isn't her.
I personally just can't believe it and she is fighting the allegations and protesting her innocence rather than not commenting at all which is good. Also it depends on the severity of what has been said, it is hard to know what you can and can't say these days.
I hope it doesn't mean the end for Shirley, it would be such a loss for EE to lose Linda, I read that she is filming up until her trial date, but it looks like she may not be able feature in the live eps.
Innocent until proven guilty, folks.
I agree I am not a Shirley fan but there is no way I am judging her until this comes to court. I am wondering about how this affects the live. She goes to court on Feb 11 and with the outcome unknown just 8 days till the live. Surely this means she cant be the killer now (not that I thought she was). I am sure there will be some plan in place no matter what happens. I am sure they did something like that when Tony Discipline was on trial (and that was awful lots judged him long before the trial which was thrown out by the judge). I was no Tyler fan but like most my personality is to see exactly what he was getting accused of and the evidence at trial. In his case it was weak and it was thrown out.
Pretty much agree with this.

We cant really assume or presume anything of this matter neither of us know Linda or her accuser and we have very little detail on the accusation itself either.
An ability to seperate character and actor is essential on so many levels and is pretty basic imo.

As you highlight the case of Tony Discipline perfectly were assumptions were made and conflations due yet the case collasped due to weak evidence.

Quoting limited to 2 levels deep
The guy who played John Stape on Corrie was attacked after the pedophile story.
As well as the guy who played Trevor Jordache in Brookside back in the early Nineties.

Trevor Jordache is now in Fair City (Dublin based lower budget EastEnders) and still people remember him more for his role as evil Trevor in Brookie.

I look back on that era of soap fondly, when it could be gritty and genuinely shocking. Notably Brookie and EastEnders. Corrie was still a few decades behind.

I'm digressing sorry....

Digression or not, you're absolutely right about Brookside and EastEnders. Just look what happened to Brookside, however, when it hyped up sensationalism and tits and arse.

I've got my eye on you

Linda Henry has been cleared at Bexley Magistrates' Court of racially abusing a council warden. I'll see if I can find a link.

Ridiculous that Linda, who's normally so reserved and shy that she rarely does TV interviews or appears on red carpets, was accused of saying "Do you know who I am? I'm Shirley!", let alone using racist language.

Glad Diane Parish and DTC spoke up on her behalf too.

Long live Linda Henry, who I've been a fan of since way before Shirley Carter, thanks to her roles in A Beautiful Thing and Bad Girls.
