Just a light hearted topic about the different fashion choices of the Walford residents, or in fact the wardrobe department.
What Characters styles are hits, misses and who would you really love to style? Do you think they need to go back to the drawing board for certain people?

(we could include home interiors but that might be a separate thread. :p )

Kat - Any Kirkwood creation. Just no. Her wedding outfit for next week is another one.

I already love this thread.

I hate when characters look like they have just stepped out of a Topshop catalogue. I want tatty coats and mismatched colour schemes. The costumes should have personality. I think this is something else that has improved a lot over the last few years.

You can't beat a bit of Sharon glam though. Another thing that was missing from Hurricane Sharon. Big coats and big heels and big hair. I'm loving it.

"I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver

Shirley is on trend with her camel coats, leather jackets and turtlenecks.

Bianca always had an *ahem* interesting sense of style.

Kim stands out to me, her dress sense is terrible me but it's just so Kim that it works.:)

Apart from the helmet hair, Vanessa looked killer in those white fitted power suits. I'd love for Sharon to wear something more like that (not white though).

Sharon has come along way since 2012 but the frumpy tops and volumed top part of her hair when she has it down is awful. When it comes to Mrs Mitchel the more natural the better!

The one thing Lorrianne Newman did right was refresh Kats look, she really captured what Kat should look like now, Kirkwood turned her into a drag queen impersonating 2001 Kat.

Rich Janine: A+
Angie Watts always looked fabulous for that era.

Why can't characters wear trendy clothes though???? Why do they have to have tatty clothes? Albert Square is no longer the rough backstreet it once was....

Babe's denim suit was eye bleedingly awful, especially when she started dancing in the Vic.

I agree with TOSC on this. We're not necessarily talking street urchin, Oliver Twist tatty, but I feel like characters should at least look like normal people. And some people are very conscious of what they wear, and others are not.

I do think some characters look far too well turned out. Lola for example is a struggling single mum yet is alway freshly tanned, nails done and hair bleached. Shirley always had manicured hands but we know Shirley doesn't care about that kind of thing.

When was the last time Phil wore jeans? Or wear another colour other than black or grey?

Big Tiffany had a T-shirt with daisy's on that I loved but could never find, they are such a cheerful flower

At my voluntary job there was a little bright pink dress with piping on that had Linda's pawprint all over it, after Dean attacked her seeing it made me so sad it was a relief when it was ragged

I love Stacey's wardrobe just because of how normal it is. That's what a 26 year old woman should be wearing. I love Linda's and Sharon's style because it's so out there and ballsy.

Kat's dress sense is awful. I wouldn't be able to to do a scene with her because her boobs are always out!

My dress sense is very much like Peter's. I even own some of his tshirts!

Alfie's fleeces from 2005. As OTT as some of those shirts are, they were the low. And whatever he was wearing for about 5 days straight in part of the fire aftermath.

Linda in the trackies, but that one may be controversial.

I find Tina's stuff a bit of a mixed bag. The top that she had on while painting the Vic, I actually have.

Sharon's infamous fluffy pink jumper, white tights, white ankle boots AND massive hair!
it was quite a look. Very 80s!

I love Stacey's red coat although hated the light pink jacket that she wore all the time when she first arrived. Lacey hated it too and was always trying to get rid of it! I don't blame her.

Hated the light pink long coat that Zoe wore all the time too

There seems to be a lot of pink involved. And that's without even mentioning the Queen of pink, Linda Carter!

Also why does Kat wear those awful 'hooker' boots all the time?!

I think Bianca worse the same silver jacket for 20 years. I guess she had no money in recent years after spending all her disposable income on chicken nuggets.

17 posts in and not one mention of Kirsty's hat or Derek's cap. For shame.

Kirsty wore that hat because Kierston Wareing broke her contract and died her hair so they had to do it for continuity purposes. I think the costume department chose the worst hat possible as revenge. :p

Oops!
I do feel shamed!
I didn't know that was the reason for kirsty starting to wear that awful hat! You learn something new every day.

Dennis Rickman in any of kind of suit!

The black dress Dennis bought for Sharon that she wore to the valentines ball in 2004 that Vicki later cut up! (The cow!)

That skin tight black very low cut dress that Zoe used to seduce Dennis, no man that night could take their eyes of her, Dennis included

Months later she walked around the vic in another skin tight dress, this time red, to try to get Dennis's attention he just thought she was being stupid and was to dressed up for being 'in the vic'
