"Our story producer Alex Lamb had the idea to replicate EastEnders' first ever scene back when we started planning our anniversary."

Amazing if this was the main motivation for Alfie burning down the house (although not too amazing for Kat & Alfie).

Nick Cotton's story really has come full circle.

Stacey will get the line, most likely.

Let's be honest, Nick was going round in circles for years anyway! :p

Sacrilege.
"I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver

Someone definitely needs to make a list of all the scenes that gives a nod to the past! :)

Just had a hilarious thought of Mick and Peggy doing a "You Bitch/Cow" moment.

I'm gonna soak up as much of anniversary week as I can cause its been five years since the last!

Will Mick Carter vault over the bar to break up a fight?

We knew the first scene was being recreated, it's in the bloody trailer isn't it.

Cor blimey!

Haven't they recreated the bar scene twice? Once with Dennis in 2003 and I'm sure there was another..

Didn't they get Den to do it on his final episode?

Didn't they do it again with Den after he returned?

Glad we're getting a recreation of the first scene, it's something I've been posting about for ages. My three choices to represent Den, Arthur and Ali were Mick, Ian and Alfie but the "next generation" of Stacey, Martin and Kush works just fine for me too. Hoping Stace gets the iconic line though.

I love this idea, as long as it's not too forced. The opening scene will be wonderful, I'm sure... but I do hope that if they recreate the "fist through the window" scene from the very first duff duff, they don't go as far as using Nick's fist again...
My over-imaginative mind can already picture the police ambulance that's sent to pick up Nick's body having to hit the breaks suddenly as someone's long-lost daughter is standing in the middle of the street looking into the headlights without budging, causing the back door to swing open and sending a John Altman stunt double flying fist-first through the air in the general direction of the Vic, which I feel might come across as slightly contrived.

Contrived? It happens all the time where I live!

I think Sean did it in the club. And there was that scene just after Den returned with Alfie trying to jump over the bar in the Vic.

I hate the thought of all this, it's cheap. They need to be creating new memories.
Is Mick going to turn up on the Vic doorstep in nothing but a bow tie??

Lauren walking along Bridge Street to meet Peter to tell him she's pregnant and Shabnam, in the doorway of the shop, calls out and asks if she is OK. (This happened to Michelle in 1985 and 1995.)

Someone in Pauline mode sitting in the Vic spying a secret being spilled in the Vic hallway.
