Characters who could realistically return...

Robbie Jackson - still mileage I think. Especially with Sonia and Carol needing more of a family unit around them.

Lisa Fowler & Louise - Hard for Lucy Benjamin, with the history, but Louise most definitely could return

Grant - enough said

Peggy - as a recurring character

Chelsea & Libby - I think Denise needs her girls.

Tanya and Zainab - before the year is out, i'd reckon.

Any of the Slater sisters, really. Zoe and Charlie could also return. Oh, and Jean and Ollie. Basically any Slater apart from Sean.

Mandy Salter. She was a random comeback last time so no reason why she couldn't turn up again.

Sean Slater but he'd probably have a definite ending when it came out about him and Brian. Jean should be around for this also.

Belinda Peacock - Pretty much a blank canvas. Could finally have divorced her husband. I always found her the most interesting of the original Slaters after Kat.

The others that spring to mind have already been said.

Wouldn't Zoe face some form of police charges if she were return? I'd hate to see another take on Stacey's return story with her.

Zsa Zsa is an interesting one, as was heavily tipped to return last year as part of the Carter clan. Lots of unfinished business and an interesting character development for Tina, there.

Zoe isn't on the run. Her name was never brought into it by Chrissie when she was arrested.
"I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver

Hope not. I found her annoying, plus there is enough Carters' to spoil the broth already, even if a few are recurring or in Stan's case departing.

I think Lynne Slater's done as a character. She'd essentially be another Jane: wants a baby, but had an emergency hysterectomy.

Jake Moon. It's never been 100% that he's dead.

Agreed about Jake Moon.

I also think: Jean Slater and Olly, Zainab Masood, Sean Slater, Zoe Slater (recast).

Nobody really. It's about time the show dispensed with returns and produced some lasting new characters. They did with the Carters, so why can't they do it with others?

I do love having the likes of Stacey and Sharon on the show, and without returns, they wouldn't be there now. So, if someone like Ross Kemp is up for a return, so am I.

I do agree with your point though. Pat was a new character once. So was Phil. So was Kat. I could go on. The Carters are already fan favourites,so there is no reason why there can't be a character that shows up and completely captures the viewer's hearts immediately. Familiarity is important, but if a character is written and acted well, then they are just as valuable as anyone else.

I agree. Out of my top five favourite characters right now, three of them are relative newbies - Kush, Linda and Mick. I think after last year, the revolving door for returnees needs to be stopped for now.

Who needs a new Super Bitch when we have Max?

Max the bitch is the most interesting plot his character has had since Stax.

What I meant was that the characters who have returned - Sharon, Jane, Stacey etc - they've enhanced an already strong cast. The new characters, too, are strong - the Carters and Kush and the re-cast Shabnam.

I just think now they ought to rein in the returns. Some people are leaving, and I'm sure that there will be new characters on their way - Richard Blackwood already and (unfortunately) one or more of Sharon's birth family, if not Mr Fox-Hubbard and Paul Coker. I think new characters ought to be a priority.

Actually, there's only one person I'd love to see return - Janine.
