The recast doesn't really make any difference. This is a flashback, but doesn't include any scenes previously seen, such as Bobby at the breakfast table being made to feel unworthy by Ian. It's just a different actor.

I would really like the killer to be Peter. Or even Ian. That would make the most impact on the Beale dynamic. Peter is leaving the show, and I appreciate this might make the outcome obvious, but equally obvious is that Nick Cotton happened to die immediately before this reveal, so we have a freshly made corpse ready to take the blame for a murder, ironically, that Nick didn't commit, which enables the real culprit either to stay on the show or to go into exile.

If it's Peter, he'll go into exile. If it's Bobby, he'll stay without having his secret revealed until the 35th or even the 40th Anniversary episode when Peter returns with a new head.
Looking at the flashback cast list, Bobby features anyway so thinking again the fact he's played by a different actor doesn't mean he;s not the killer as he'll be there anyway. We'll just have to accept he's changed his face! :D In fact, changing the actor may have been for the exact reason that they wanted someone who was more experienced.

There's no denying Peter, Jane or Ian would have the most impact. Cindy would also have an impact on the Beale dynamic, although viewers tuning in specifically for the reveal probably wouldn't care.

I do agree that Nick is going to blamed for this. Why, and how, I'm not sure.

If it's Bobby there will be outrage! The amount of people losing money at the bookies (due to him not even being a suspect) will be after DTC

Because Nick has, literally, made a living out of getting away with murder.

He got away with Reg Cox's murder. He was tried for Eddie Royle's murder and acquitted. He tried to kill Mark Fowler, and Ashley Cotton died, accidentally, instead. This is one murder that's going to be pinned on Nick, with Dot's blessing, which he didn't commit.

Lucy was into drugs. Nick was into drugs. Nick has killed before. Now he's "caught", but he's dead. Investigation over, just as it was when Bradley's death ended the Archie investigation because the police were convinced he killed Archie.

If the killer is Bobby, his family will contrive to keep the secret from him. Maybe Peter will not be able to bear this and goes away. If the killer is Peter, Ian will forgive him, but exile him or he'll self-impose exile upon himself.

I agree entirely. Also, it will add to the level of ludicrous with yet another killer, ignorant of his crime, swanning around the Square.

I know it's our birthday today but that's not an excuse to get rowdy and start a forum dust-up.

Let's keep it civil please :) :P
Oh, come on, it's an EastEnders celebration - it's got to end in a punch up
Happy Christmas Ange.

I have to settle for Peter, or Denise, who Peter takes the blame for.

Though if Nick also takes the blame for Peter we will have a double scapegoat.

Ian's reaction if it's Bobby will be interesting. Non-Cindy gened child kills Cindy gened child (and his only daughter.)

You have to say it's been a good mystery, though, it has kept us guessing until the end.

I'm sorry to say that I think I've cracked it, and I'm not happy if it turns out to be the truth.

It's Bobby.

Here's how it pans out.

Vincent is Lucy's dealer. He was also Carl White's provider of gear, and he knows that Ronnie killed Carl, which is why he's after her. That's beside the point.

Vincent agrees to come to the Beale home to sell Lucy some coke, when she's alone. It's when she goes to pay him that she discovers her purse and phone are missing (Ben stole them). She hears Bobby, and Vincent hides. There's some sort of confrontation between Bobby and Lucy and he throws the jewelry box at her, hitting her. She falls down, dead. Bobby is afraid and runs to the Masoods to get Jane.

In the meantime, Vincent leaves.

Jane returns. Bobby doesn't know Lucy is dead, and she sends him to the Masoods, telling him to say nothing. She moves the body to the Common, along with Lucy's bag.

Vincent is doing a spell in the nick, where he meets Phil. When he finds out Phil is from Albert Square (and is related to Ronnie, but he doesn't let anything on), he tells him what happened to Lucy. He's the person Phil met, and that's what Phil had to tell Ian.

Jane will confess what happened to Ian and her part in it, but she will stress to everyone that Bobby doesn't know what he did. Ian will be agonised about what to do until Dot steps up to the plate and offers Dead Nick as a culprit to blame. Peter leaves because he cannot countenance the secrecy.

Fastforward five years to the 35th anniversary. Bobby is sixteen. Peter returns with a new head and attitude and spills the beans about what Bobby did.

I don't like this, because I feel it will be a cop-out, and I hope I'm wrong.
That all makes sense, pieces together really well actually.

Didn't someone in production (DTC?) say the killer might not have even realised they'd done it? So it totally fits from that angle too and, like you say, leaves for one helluva reveal in years to come when Bobby has grown up and finds out it was him who'd killed his big sister. If so they are really planning ahead on this show!

I am being driven insane by the amount of people telling me it was bobby on Facebook.

If it's bobby I won't bother watching, I just won't. He's not a main suspect and he's a kid. I was hoping for a bit more meaning behind it than an accident.

Haha there's been more drama in these forums than on the screen at times, but hopefully not tonight. I am having a few beers with my mates this evening while we watch the show so I could get a bit lairy this evening and come on here with my fists flying like windmills but I'll probably just fall asleep in the corner.

I channel Chrissie several times in any given day.
"I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver

I'm just sticking with Peter as I haven't got a clue now so don't see the point in changing my mind.

I don't think it's Bobby. They didn't do his wedding speech live, and for that he would have been able to read it. I can't see him getting many live lines. The impact on Ian would be interesting but I want to see the impact on the killer as well and I can't see them showing much of Bobby.
