Is this likely to lead to Sharon finding out about Bobby? I'd kind of assume if Jane and Ian are flying off the handle Denny is potentially bullying Bobby? Which could potentially lead to Bobby telling Denny what he did to stop him?

Part of me is glad they are returning to Denny being a nightmare in the hope they will play it out better and resolve it properly.

You know what would have been a good choice back in the Shannis era? Jack Dalton, he put the hit out on her dad Den and he was murdered by her husband Dennis killing his wife and son's father/grandfather.
Oddly enough that spoiler pretty much confirms it wont be Pete. But I have a feeling it will be somebody alive so they can explore it.
Your approval is neither desired nor required.

Julia Smith "We decided to go for a realistic, fairly outspoken type of drama which could encompass stories about homosexuality, rape, unemployment, racial prejudice, etc., in a believable context. Above all, we wanted realism".

Not EastEnders stealing Corrie's big Summer plot from right under their nose:

Spoiler: click to toggle

The Local Butcher will be pleased we're getting a return to this story... albeit 18 months later!
Finally they're not pretending he's an innocent little angel anymore. That was just too much of a stretch after his previous characterisation.

Mind you I have to wonder what is it with "evil" kids in soaps this year? Bobby, Simon, Denny. Soap kids are usually a tiny bit too innocent for my taste but this reeks a bit of desperation. It's like they're desperately trying to come up with something that will shock modern viewers who've seen it all.
Warning: Posts made by The Local Butcher may contain sarcasm, frustrated expressions of fatigue in the face of Eastenders' neverending insanity, desperate and ill-conceived attempts to be funny, controversial opinions and nuts. Not necessarily in that order.

"While viewers will have to wait and see exactly how the scenes play out, Jane and Ian both end up confronting Sharon about Dennis's behaviour and her parenting skills."

Why not confront yourselves over the fact your son killed his sister?
Massive case of pot-meets-kettle here. Ian and Jane have been amongst the worst parents on the Square. Jane has absolutely no parenting skills and Ian came late to the game.

Pre-Jane, when Ian was between wives and building his empire, Pat and Pauline did the heavy lifting, often when they had families of their own. They spent more times running after and babysitting Ian's crew when both Martin and Janine were small.

Secondly, Ian threw money at his kids for a peaceful life. When he attempted to discipline them, by that time, Christian had come on the scene and he and Jane took great pleasure in ridiculing and undermining Ian, encouraging Lucy's bad behaviour.

Every one of Ian's kids know his disdain for the public and exhibit it themselves.

These two make me want to scream.

I'm hoping that Sharon's natural father is Den. Image the scandal!

It would certainly explain a lot about Denny, but no, no Den for daddy please.

It's certainly not going to be Den or Pete: but Den had to know or was informed by a third party who Sharon's birth father was, and as we now know he sought out Sharon and was clear he wanted to adopt her specifically but the question is why? Who had this level of influence on him that he willingly adopted and raised a child on their behalf it must've been someone quite important in Den's life.

Quoting limited to 2 levels deep

We don't know who "Gavin" Sullivan or whoever was or who his family were. But consider this: We never knew Mo Harris was a Walford resident until she rocked up with the Slaters. She was Pat's sister-in-law. She knew Ethel and remembered Dot. We never knew Jonnie Allen was Walford born and bred. Again, he remembered Dot and Ethel, and knew Den and Angie. We never knew Dr Al Jenkins had grown up in Walford until he arrived.

The Sullivans may have been a family with a modicum of power or something to sway Den back in the late Sixties/early Seventies. It's a shame Dot's not around to reference them.

Maybe Mo could reference them as she may know them as well.
Did Mo recognise Den when he came back? She knew Ethel and Pauline.

If they make the Sullivans a thing they have to bring back Craig Fairbrass as Phil's greatest adversary Dan.

BINGO.

The ONLY man to best Phil Mitchell and walk away with the dosh, leaving him handcuffed to a radiator.

If only to waltz Carol off into the sunset, let's have cousin Dan Sullivan back.

I wonder how they're going to work the Sullivans or whoever into having known Buster Bloodvessel, who is serving time in prison for money laundering - something, I would imagine that type of gangster would be well into.

I do get the feeling the gangsters are on their way back. I wouldn't be surprised if Gavin was Vincent's boss.

I agree.

Sharon and Denny's story was begun in the awful Newman era.
Dominic and the team were right to drop it, refocus Sharon and work it back in again later on.
I suspect this is why Denny has largely been off screen for the last while.

Sharon gets a scratch on her face.
Are they going to go down a child/parent violence storyline with Denny and Sharon?

If they are, Corrie will no doubt be pleased, seeing as their latest big story announcement was that very plot for Leanne and Simon Barlow.

Yep ... it all ties up.

I'd love the next BIG surprise for Phil to be Dan Sullivan turning up on his doorstep.

My own feelings on this subject

Yes Denny is out of control but won't anyone else be thinking the word hypocrites when Ian and Jane have a go at Sharon over her parenting skills next Friday (since Bobby murdered Lucy after all.)

Why do we never see Denny anymore? Have they quietly axed him?

They can't axe the character with Sharon still being around, without him being sent off to boarding school or killed off which I can't see happening, They may have axed the actor, or maybe the young actor is busy with school or has been doing other theatrical work and used up his limited working hours or him and his family may have moved to a different part of the country or maybe EE are between actors at the moment and maybe recasting.
