I am thrilled that Jake is confirmed to be coming back. I was worried but now I feel better. |

Your approval is neither desired nor required. Julia Smith "We decided to go for a realistic, fairly outspoken type of drama which could encompass stories about homosexuality, rape, unemployment, racial prejudice, etc., in a believable context. Above all, we wanted realism". | |

I think it's great the show has finally moved on from the Branning dominance, but I will still miss Max. I'm glad to hear he has already signed a contract, ensuring he will definitely be back next year. I hope Dominic doesn't go overboard with allowing these breaks. Kat Alfie Max All on break, not returning this side of Christmas. Liam Butcher leaving, meaning we could also see Carol going too, as I doubt she would stay solely for Whitney, who can easily be integrated into the Carters. In fact, Shona recently confirmed this is what will happen. Sonia existed on the show for years without Carol, so she too will be integrated elsewhere. |

Max is one of my favourite characters but we know for definite he's coming back so I'm very relaxed about this break. |

Good luck to Jake. I've very glad that he will be returning, but I'm also happy that we will have a break from Max - he needs a bit of a re-set. |

If Max gets sent to prison for Lucy's murder (and I think it's extremely likely), will we finally get a decent post-prison storyline? They had all the potential to go there with Dean (on multiple occasions!) and didn't. If they did, this could change Max's character, which I think is needed. It's only because Jake is a fantastic actor that Max has lasted 9 years purely being known for cheating!! |

I like the idea of a Max prison style storyline, sort of like what they did with Den back in the day. I haven't given how he will exit much thought, but it is interesting him going to jail for Lucy's murder. I wonder how that would come about? I agree with the idea of having a story that doesn't involve him shagging some dolly bird. |

I am really going to struggle to like Ian if he sits back and lets Max go down for this. |

Exciting news. For ages I've wanted to see what shows Jake Wood could be given after his EastEnders and SCD popularity. As for Carol it would be great to see her with a new young family. Billy, Lola, Abi, Lexi and Janet perhaps? Sadly I think there's more chance of it the Carters moving in. The BBC has made some great shows over the past couple of years. The thought of Jake Wood getting in on that action is amazing. |

Carol will be looking after Abi and Rebecca, the latter for obvious reasons. |

Definitely. A combination of Jake and the right script could easily lead to a Bafta nomination. |

Agreed. He loves EastEnders, but Jake definitely deserves his time to focus on new projects. He's confirmed to be coming back. I can see him being the wrong arrest for Lucy's murder too, so hopefully when the year of him gone is over with we're treated to a more angry and dark Max who is determined to seek revenge on the Beales and not a Max Branning, who is constantly involved in sex, lies, affairs and sleaziness. |

I hope Stacey is involved too to try and protest Max's innocence if he is the one arrested, the history of the two characters cannot be forgotten. |

And a year too will hopefully give them a few ideas in how to revitalise Max's character, in a way I think Jake's decision will be a benefit for his character in the long run and he's thinking of the longer picture. |

I agree, the camera didn't spontaneously jump up on his shoe for no reason. Keeble is a long way from bowing out of the show. She's transfixed on any case that's not quite as boring and pointless as Dots, she showed outright distain and mockery for the situation that Charlie and the cottons had roped themselves into. Also by simultaneously linking the two "murder" cases we are able to see that Keeble has the judgement to pick up on the degree of sinisterness thats exercised by the culprit and then applied to the crime. So yes on the surface she's hard as nails but I reckon Emma's death might have spurred something in her to keep going on. I don't think Keeble really closed the case, rather she wanted to lower peoples guard. Really hope she'll have Jane quaking in her boots. Gutted Jake wood is leaving but it's probably for the best.. how many times has Max spent in prison now? counting and not counting the times he was actually guilty of something. |

She also gripped Max's shirt with her hands so her blood is on his shirt and shoes. It's also clear that Jake was too drunk to remember Max being there so he has no witness and alibi. The Beales and the Brannings are also hugely linked with Peter and Lauren's relationship, Max's affair with Lucy and Jane and Tanya's friendship. Jane conspiring to send Max down to protect her secret will give Jake the break he wants and bring Max back with vengeance on his mind and if it leads to the downfall of the odious Jane, then fantastic. |

There could still be traces of her blood in the car lot as well, and Liam knows about the argument they had outside as he helped David recover the deleted CCTV footage. This might be tied in to Liam's exit as well - I can't imagine Carol being too happy about Liam helping to (wrongly) convict her brother, and James Forde did say Liam might make himself unpopular before he leaves. I reckon Cora's return will also be related to this - she might testify that she saw the cleanup operation or might just come back to support Abi. Edited by Shamelessness, 30 May 2015, 16:48.
