Highest Score: 11 (Daniel68, Mrs Peel, Elle)
10 (Mitchells 42, MrJames, Planck, Jin, TellyAddict, ThingsDie, weewoman, TaintedRose, Blades' Receptionist, Gangstress, Shamelessness, McFudd, Blokeoptimistic, Sey)

Character Result: 39th

My 11. The best actress on the show. I've never, ever felt so connected with a character despite them being so controversial - and that is all down to Linda Henry. This is an actress who plays one of the most selfish, frustrating characters ever to appear. And good God she's good at it. I feel all the emotions I should do for Shirley, she hits every single note pitch perfect. To be honest I'm absolutely gutted that she's not won this, the final two are incredible as well but I think Linda is better. Some people complain about Shirley being front and centre of the show, but I always think you should use your most valuable assets. She's the best actress there, so she should be used very often. And just think about some of the Linda Henry performances we've been treated to over the last 18 months; I'm thinking the whole Phil shooting week, her reaction to Dean returning, the Mick reveal at Christmas, the drowning reveal, and of course Stan's death. I do wonder if she'd have made the top two if Shirley was a nicer character. Certainly in the last few weeks we've seen a much better side to Shirley, a side that we always knew was there, but has been neglected for too long. Linda Henry has excellent comic timing and she had me in stitches on Tuesday at the wedding. Another thing I love about Linda Henry is that she makes all the other actors around her better. Look at Matt Di Angelo and Karl Howman. They've both had some wonderful scenes with Henry, and bounce off her so well. She's just unbelievable. Don't ever leave, Linda.

Mrs Peel: There you have it - best actress in the programme. You may not like Shirley, you may not be intended to, but you love Linda Henry
weewoman: In spite of the repetitive storylines, Linda Henry makes me root for her, all faults of Shirley included.
Allegra: I'm not a fan of her character but she portrays the deeply flawed Shirley, warts and all, incredibly well. Great actress, one of the best.
Blades' Receptionist: She's brilliant.
Mr. Right: Linda does a good job at making me loathe Shirley yet feel sorry for her at the same time.
Elle: One of the best actresses in the show, always delivers on the nose. Linda Henry has the ability to allow me to sympathise and understand Shirley even when she is revealing her worst. She plays all these different facets of Shirley brilliantly and never ceases to astound.
Mitchells 42: Shirley Carter would be horrendous if not for Linda Henry. She portrays Shirley to perfection.
Zachary: Great actress!
Cam: Great. Not as good as many make out I think.
MrJames: An incredibly clever actress. She knows how to time every single word so that hits every nerve in your body. Just when you think Shirley is at her most unsympathetic, Linda Henry can hit you with her flawlessness and then you end up crying or something.
Katie: I don't think she's as good as a lot of other people seem to.
Shamelessness: Always been a huge Linda Henry fan. The character is so unlikeable but she plays her to perfection.
King Billy: Fantastic.
*Betty*: Flawless performances, just plays an unlikable character. But isn't afraid of making her very unlikable.
MrSunshine: Great actress and I still feel we haven't seen her at her best.
TaintedRose: No matter how much I want to smack Shirley, Linda manages to make me feel for her.
Jin: very good at mournful scenes

Gutted that Linda Henry didn't win it but top 3 is brilliant. She is my favorite actress on the show and was my 11. Out of Adam and Lindsey, I think Lindsey will take the crown.

I knew Linda was popular but I'm very surprised she's that high. I hope Adam wins, but either way it's a great top two.

Although Adam is obviously brilliant, he has done slightly better than I expected him to. I think I'd place Diane, Jake, Lacey and Linda above him.

Lindsey and Adam were my top 2 aswell. I preferred in the end Adam, just because his uncanny ability to make his portrayal of Ian is making you think "well, I would not have done/said that" whilst being totally believeable. And it sort of makes you feel just slightly better about yourself - and he is doing this for 30 years. Hence my 11 to him. But if Lindsey wins, totally deserved aswell. I will miss her more than I will miss Carol, and I think this rings true for more people on this forum.

I think Adam is good, but for me he is not in the same class as Wood or McFadden

I love that the top three has representation from the Eighties, the Nineties and the Noughties. Whilst I would have preferred Wood to Henry, she is nonetheless excellent.

I agree. Woodyatt is good but I would have liked to see McFadden in the top 3. I do think McFadden and Wood are underated for how good they are.

With actors of their calibre and incredible actresses in Henry, Coulson and Parish, EastEnders has a strong cast right now.

2: ADAM WOODYATT
Average: 9.78

Highest Score: 11 (Planck, ThingsDie, weewoman, King Billy, eastend90)
10 (Mitchells 42, Daniel68, Katedahlia, Mr. Right, WalfordE20, Solar1808, Cupcake, Jin, TellyAddict, Jade, *Betty*, TaintedRose, Blades' Receptionist, McFudd, Blokeoptimistic, Sey, NevermindMe, Katie)
Lowest Score: 7 (Allegra)
Character Average: 7.02
Character Result: 9th

It was a really, really tough decision to give Woodyatt a 10. It was between him and Linda Henry for my 11 score, and I just plumped for Henry in the end. But even so, what a special actor this man is, and what an asset to EastEnders he is. Been there since the start, and one of the most recognisable characters there's ever been. I've always rated Woodyatt highly, but since Lucy's death he's been absolutely unreal. In fact I'd also mention the stalker Steven storyline and the homeless storyline as two more Woodyatt gems. Over the last year and a bit, he has been different class. I'll remember forever some of his performances just after Lucy died, it's hard to describe how good he was. And that episode on the Friday of Live Week? WOW. I was speechless. One of the most amazing things about Woodyatt to me is that he never seems to find any of it difficult, it just seems to come naturally to him. With he, Brett, Keene and Carrington, there's some real talent in the Beale's at the minute. I can't wait to see his performances when Kathy returns. I just know that he's going to break my heart again. Ian might be a prat, but Woodyatt is a legend. Every single one of those 10s and 11s is deserved. So pleased his talent has won him awards this year.

weewoman: The way he portrays Ian is pitch perfect. He makes me cry for Ian and loath him within seconds.
MrJames: With a character like Ian who feels a part of the furniture (in the best possible way), it's incredibly easy to let Adam's performances pass you by. But not in this last year... oh no. Adam has gone in all guns blazing in the last year and his performances have continually stunned me. I'm still getting over what he achieved in live week.
Planck: Absolutely outstanding.
Mitchells 42: He is Ian Beale. As awful as Ian can be, Woodyatt is always there giving his all
King Billy: What a year it's been. Genuinely moving performances.
*Betty*: Adam has grown on the show but his performances in the past year have been phenomenal. He goes to some other place when it comes to exploring emotions.
See You Slater: He’s very good at playing Ian Beale. I’m not sure if he’d get a part away from the show though. He over eggs a scene a bit to much sometimes, like last year when he was on the sofa with Phil giving the best cry I have ever seen from a male actor when he suddenly started flapping his arms like a seal wailing? Way to kill a moment!
Zachary: Superb! Well deserved of the best actor award.
Blades' Receptionist: He is amazing. His crying scenes in particular are extraordinary.
Mrs Peel: Good at being Ian, and good at crying
Jin: The Lucy storyline showed a whole new side to him. I never rated him before, he was just there - but wow. Deseeves all his accolades.
Mr. Right: Finally receiving the acclaim he deserves.
TaintedRose: He’s blown me away on several occasions since the start of the Lucy story. I have no doubt that he’ll continue to do so upon Kathy’s return.
MrSunshine: Has just had, arguably the best year he's ever had on the show. Deserved every award he gets for the Lucy story but in the past he's been shaky at times though his good far outweighs his bad.

YOUR CHAMPION

1: LINDSEY COULSON
Average: 9.92

Highest Score: 11 (Mitchells 42, MrJames, WalfordE20, TellyAddict, Jade, TaintedRose, Gangstress, WalfordCommon, See You Slater, Shamelessness)
10 (Daniel68, Katedahlia, Mrs Peel, Cam, Planck, lennon, Elle, Cupcake, Jin, MrSunshine, ThingsDie, weewoman, *Betty*, Zachary, King Billy, Blades' Receptionist, McFudd, Blokeoptimistic, Sey, Allegra, NevermindMe, eastend90)
Lowest Score: 6 (holly)
Character Average: 8.08
Character Result: 4th

Here you are then, your winner. God I'm going to miss this woman. But, I realise that she's going to go onto bigger things, or at least she deserves to. Until the last 12 months or so, I'd never really found myself blown away by Coulson. However, when I saw Billie's death on YouTube (I was on holiday when that happened) and her performances with Michael French last year, my opinion changed, and I couldn't give her anything other than a ten. She is fantastic. That episode with Linda Henry the other week? Insane amount of acting quality. Carol's cancer last year was one of my favourite stories, Coulson drew me in, and she's been excellent this year too, it's great to see her so high up on the Character Appearance Count this year. And just look at those scores, so many 11s and so many 10s. An average of 9.92 is just ridiculous. This has been a resounding victory. Walford Web, you have crowned Lindsey Coulson as the best actor/actress on the cast.

Mr. Right: She’s a great actress, perhaps not the best in the show, but she does well when she gets the material. Her performance in the wake of Billie’s death was heartbreaking.
holly: I'm yet to see the amazing-ness of her that everyone raves about, but I think she's good , and reliable for a sincere performance
Shamelessness: simply one of the best actresses on television, let alone in EE. I could watch her endlessly. She has never put a foot wrong and every performance she gives, whether big and belting or small and understated, is magnificent and riddled with subtle undertones.
Allegra: Lindsey Coulson is pure understated power. A masterclass in how less can often be more. She has delivered a near perfect portrayal of grief and brings a touch of class to every episode she appears in. Never shortchanges the audience. Carol is one of the least flashy roles but Lindsey makes her something special to watch a lot of the time regardless.
See You Slater: I find her slightly overrated, but she is still one of the show’s best. She isn’t the acting great some make out though.
weewoman: No matter if she is in the limelight or in the background, she steals every scene she is in.
Blades' Receptionist: She's incredible.
Cam: Can do everything and anything.
MrJames: Unquestionably my 11. It feels silly in a cast full of hugely talented actors to have such a clear and distinct 'best actor' but nevertheless she exists and her name is Lindsey Coulson. As a relatively young EastEnders viewer, I don't remember Lindsey's first stint, so her return in 2010 absolutely knocked me for six. A world class actress.
Jin: Boring character but fantastic actress - best cryer in soap.
MrSunshine: Wow. This actress. Very powerful. Quiet, understated, loud, overbearing, raw and real. She can do it all.
Zachary: Another fantastic actress, an absolute treasure to EastEnders.
*Betty*: Flawless.
TaintedRose: I honestly cannot rate her enough; there aren’t enough words in the English language. The strongest actress EE’s ever had, as far as I’m concerned.
Katie: I've never really liked Carol or her storylines, which is a shame as I think Lindsey is a great actor.
Mrs Peel: hard to do, as the 11 was between her and Linda Henry, but there you go
Mitchells 42: What more can be said? Phenomenal in every sense of the word.
King Billy: One of EastEnders' all time greats.
