Very excited for this. No doubt the same people who have been calling for Lee to get a storyline will now moan it's another Carter story. |

Another issue led storyline for the Carters. And the worst one. BUT he could prove himself and I'm hoping he does. |

It definitely is. I'm pleased that both Nancy and Lee are getting individual storylines. Its overdue. |

Completely made up that Danny-Boy is getting his chance to shine. He gets a lot of unfair flak on here for no reason. I think he is seeping in potential. It's good also that the Carters are going to have some real kitchen sink drama after the sensationalist mess that Dean became. This type of story suits this unit. I just hope that it stays truthful and doesn't descend into cheap twists and turns. I'm hopeful though, and more screentime for Whitney is also only a good thing. Looking forward to this. |

First time in a while I've felt excited about a storyline reveal. Lee needed a storyline and this could be great. I do hope though that they haven't chosen to do a male depression storyline just because of Corrie's success with Steve's depression. |

Lee deserves a storyline. Lee hasn't had a big storyline so its time that he did. Its his parents who I needed a break from. I'm looking forward to the story. |

I'm looking forward to this. Danny Boy has a lot of potential, so this could be the making of him. |

I like Lee, and I like Danny-Boy Hatchard. This is more than relevant, particularly as Lee is still a serving soldier (despite what the article says, as he works in recruitment) and has seen action in Afghanistan. Many returning soldiers suffer from PTSD and depression, and this needs to be addressed. EastEnders could SHINE with this storyline if it's written well. |

This is fantastic news for the show, Lee and especially Danny-Boy. This is your well-deserved time to shine. |

This sounds brilliant. As others have said the Carters desperately need something like this to ground them again, and Danny has been crying out for some solid material. I'm very excited for this. The latest spoilers have been very hit and miss. Some, like this, have me itching to watch. Others, like Stacey's upcoming plot, make me want to pull my hair out. |

Definitely. Danny-Boy has shown that he can handle big scenes, so it's just been a case of waiting for him to be given the opportunity. (Next up, Jamie Borthwick please! He's been waiting since 2012). |

After the way Mick reacted to Johnny coming out, I wonder if this is a time where he doesn't understand the issue. I could easily see this being the case. Unfortunately some people just don't understand depression (which is why it needs to be portrayed on TV). Edited by Blades' receptionist, 27 Jun 2015, 19:51.

As I read that article I couldn't help thinking how well Jamie could do with this story. I'm so glad Danny-Boy has been given something, but Jay desperately needs something big. |

As much as I love Jay and Jamie as an actor, for me, Lee needs this storyline more to cement him in the show. I agree that Jay could also have been given this. I just hope Jamie will be given something when Kathy comes back - maybe Jay could become entangled with Gavin's lifestyle? Or with Ben getting his mum back, maybe Jay could feel isolated and feel like an outsider. |

Lee definitely needs it. He still hasn't fully bedded into the show yet and I think this is the perfect opportunity. I hope we get some strong Linda/Lee scenes. Their little scene in the kitchen after he found out she was raped was one my favourites of the family. |

There have been some great scenes between Linda and Lee over the past year so I hope there will be. I think Linda may be the parent who eventually supports Lee rather than Mick. |

Good story on paper not sure if the one of the weakest actors on the show can pull it off. I wouldn't call it the most controversial story they ever did either but each to their own. I would have liked to see a stronger actor and character get this material. Max would have been a good candidate. |

Your approval is neither desired nor required. Julia Smith "We decided to go for a realistic, fairly outspoken type of drama which could encompass stories about homosexuality, rape, unemployment, racial prejudice, etc., in a believable context. Above all, we wanted realism". | |

I'm so pleased to see this news has got a good reaction. Danny-Boy and Lee have the potential to be excellent and this feels like a fresh story for the show and for the Carters. This is the sort of story that the Carters should be telling, it's real and raw and (hopefully) not sensationalised or reliant on plot twists. |
