That doesn't bode well then! It's rare to have a stable couple in soaps. Correct me if I'm wrong but are Mick and Linda the only ones? |

Danny-Boy has also said that this is not a PTSD storyline - it's a generic depression storyline. |

Maybe, Jane/Ian Kim/Vincent The other couples. Phil/Sharon (That might change when she finds out about Kathy) Tamwar/Nancy (Actually, they are just properly getting together so don't count yet. Charlie/Ronnie (I don't think that will last.) If DTC wants to keep Danny-Boy Hatchard, he will keep Whitney and Lee together. They have been together, for a while. I like them as a couple. |

The problem is a lot of those couples are doomed I think. Jane/Ian can't ever survive. Vincent I think has a shelf life. Nancy/Tamwar are beginning so that could be something to watch. Charlie/Ronnie is doomed too I think. Phil/Sharon I really hope become a long term power couple! Still it's not so bad as there was a point during the Kirkwood era that all couples were split up. |

Yeah, I agree with you. The only couples that I like are Nancy/Tamwar, Lee/Whitney and Phil/Sharon. I'm indifferent to the other couples. I would love to see a couple who have a long running relationship. Like we get to see them, reach relationship milestones. However, I understand that its difficult, because the actors may want to leave or the producers may prefer to break up the couple. |

I agree. I think that we will start to, especially with Lee's depression. |

I'm interested. Some People sometimes write characters and actors off before they've been given a chance. This story will show us what both the actor and character are made of and will hopefully get the Carter family back on track. |

I wonder if this storyline might somehow get tied into the issue of Lucy's murder. |

I hope not. It's things like that which take away the truth from a story. Lee's depression doesn't need to be a trigger for something "bigger". It's big enough. It's an honest and relevant story. I just hope it stays close to the bone. |
| "I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver | |

We never really found out how Lee felt about Lucy's murder though. He was growing quite close to her and when she died, he seemed to be disturbed but he moved on to Whitney quite quickly. Lucy's death may have hit him harder than it seems because as said, Lee is not the type of guy who discusses his feelings. Also, as already said, Whitney's reaction will be interesting because she's never had to step up and support a boyfriend before. |

Whitney is ok but Danny is such a bad actor and poor character wish they would give her something more interesting. I am wondering if this will be the excuse he needs not to work? Since apparently you can choose not to be deployed he is no more a solider then Kim is. |

Your approval is neither desired nor required. Julia Smith "We decided to go for a realistic, fairly outspoken type of drama which could encompass stories about homosexuality, rape, unemployment, racial prejudice, etc., in a believable context. Above all, we wanted realism". | |

With respect, the show has been at pains to explain that Lee has been assigned to the local recruitment office, and several references have been made to that. He's a soldier stationed locally. That may not be 100 per cent realistic, but at least it shows that Lee does have an assignment with the Army. He has also been on duty in Afghanistan on a mine-detecting team, which is an extremely dangerous job to have had, and depression, amongst returning military personnel is one of the biggest problems facing both the military and civilian world, and it's only now that the military are addressing this. Since the actor, himself, has suffered depression, he's probably got a good understanding of the problem, and that's a good beginning. |
