Occasionally, I remember just how traumatic Jase's death must have been for Jay. The kind of thing that truly scars a person for life, yet like many other soap characters, Jay seems totally fine. Not that he shouldn't be, but kids who are orphaned at 14 and actually witness the violent murder of one of the parents have at least some effect but you'd never guess with Jay. And I'm not even going to touch on the fact he's never once referenced his mother. Let's explore this a bit please.
I agree. Maybe Jay could get a letter about something from his past, or someone could turn up and it brings everything back for Jay?

Does anyone think Lola's character assassination change will change how Jay sees her?

So, the two residents who decide to 'give it a go' next week are most definitely Lola and Jay right? I can't see anyone else from that cast list being applicable unless they're gonna give us a Keeble/Ritchie Scott hook up.

Yeah, it probably is, them. This must be the start of Lola's exit storyline.

Oh yes, that does seem very likely. It's going to be interesting to see what happens there.

Yep and he proved how good he is. Brilliant scene between jay and ben. I liked the subtle reference to his dad Jase Dyer too.

Him looking at his bench carved tribute seemed more of a reason for him to head up north. I love Jay. One of my favourite ever characters. I still expect his exit to be announced this year though.

I'm thinking that if Jamie was going to be axed, he'd have left with Lola. To keep him around for three months, literally tagged to the Square, leaves ample time for a reason for him not to join to crop up.

Given the little we've seen of Jay this year has mostly been with Ben, it also seems DTC sees Jamie and Ben as the new generation Mitchell brothers, and DTC is a sucker for a bit of history/legacy.

I think every EP (including Dom) has seen Jay as being not as important as Ben despite the fact that Jamie has been/is a better actor than all actors to have a go at Ben.

He's been there nearly 9 years now and he's had less cliffhangers than almost all his contemporaries (except Lorna). Give the actor his due Dom!

I agree. Even though he's not used, I don't think Jamie would ever be axed. Not under DTC anyway.

Jay's only known living relations are Bert, who's out there someplace, and Jase's brothers whom Jase often mentioned. Instead of Jake Stone, I'd always thought Jamie Lomas would have done well to have been Jake Dyer, Jase's brother and Jay's uncle and a point of reference as a relative.

I thought upset Paul was going to come looking for a cuddle and misinterpret Ben's comforting of Jay.
