Yes, I am rather sad for Dot. This time last year, we were building up to that fantastic Cotton set-up of Dot, Nick, Yvonne and Charlie. Sad times. :'(
Massive thanks to NickM for this wonderful signature! :)

I really don't get why they're pretending to film in Dartford. Why couldn't they have just come here and filmed for real? I'd be on the first bus into town if they had come here!
Possibly because of all the transport problems on the roads and motorways in Kent at the moment.
I suspect BBC cost-cutting is also a factor. Why ship cast and (from what I saw this morning at Elstree station) a lot of crew down to Kent when they can film the scenes just as well on their doorstep? Only eagle-eyed viewers like me in Elstree or Ross down in Dartford would know that we're being hoodwinked... and for a character like Charlie, who has become increasingly redundant since the 30th anniversary, I'm not quite convinced the expense is justified!

Shamelessness

Shame Declan's leaving. If I was axing characters, Charlie and Lola wouldn't be top of my list. I'm guessing Ronnie will get Matthew back somehow - surely she can't lose a fourth child. It leaves Dot quite isolated again when she returns. At least it's the end of the awful love triangle though. I hope Roxy gets a decent storyline of her own soon. Screw the Autumn of Ronnie.
Ronnie taking a baby back?

Uh oh...

It's a bit of a shame as Charlie had a lot of promise, but he was watered down as soon as he got engaged to Ronnie.

Sounds like an exit for Charlie.
Didn't someone say awhile back that Declan Bennett finished filming in July?
Yup that was me.

Can't say I'm too surprised. He went from an intriguing mystery to a complete and utter Jack clone. All he does is exacerbate just how boring and repetitive Ronnie and Roxy have gotten. Ronnie needs to get her comeuppance after which Roxy might as well be written out. I know people will say that Roxy is a fun character and she is but after 8 years they've pretty much done everything they're ever going to do with her.

The death knell for Charlie was pairing him with Ronnie. She'll spoil any potentially interesting male she's paired up with

I wouldn't mind a bit of a Phil/Lisa thing with Ronnie and Charlie. Charlie disappears with Matthew. Ronnie then disappears a couple of weeks later and returns with her son. And we don't know what went on off screen. It'd be a good way of bringing back that danger to Ronnie.
"I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver

It was to be expected. He was rendered useless once the Nick arc was done.

I'm not sure if I'm bothered.

What is next for Ronnie though? I would hope she is killed off soon.

Where's Dot due to be released and where does Kirsty live? Maybe they're all reuniting off screen in Gravesend.

He got interesting again when we saw his friendship with Aleks grow and it felt like we'd have a good old fashioned affair storyline. I won't particularly miss him.

The cotton's are on their way out. With June Brown rapidly approaching 90 years old it's inevitable that this family will soon disappear from our screens 😢😧😢😧😢

Charlie goes as Dot's grandson but Fatboy stays as Dot's friend / lodger. Interesting decision.

He was terrible but morseo once the affair began. I'm not going to miss him but I'd have got rid of Fatboy before Charlie. 5 years and he's done nothing.

The real tragedy for me is this means no more Yvonne. :'(

At least he isn't being killed off like his brother was. Though to be honest, with Dot losing her son and her husband a bit close together, losing ANOTHER grandson to death would risk making her miserable like Ronnie.

At least the Cottons will be out there. Charlie can return with new wife and kids when a producer wants to bring the family back. Kirsty can return. Maybe even Andrew or Rose.
