Charlie goes as Dot's grandson but Fatboy stays as Dot's friend / lodger. Interesting decision.
Not too surprised by that, actually. Arthur has more chemistry with his beloved Mrs B than that wet paper towel Charlie ever could.

If it were up to me I'd sign Ricky Norwood up for life, even if his character isn't always that prominent. The guy can act - especially when the writers explore his character's sensitive, vulnerable side - and I'm still hoping he'll end up happily married to Denise... eventually.

No need to improve when you've already got it. :)

I hope that now charlie is leaving, Arthur will get more scenes with his beloved Mrs B. I've always like their friendship. His reaction when Dot returned in 2013 was brilliant 'Mrs B?' 'Mrs Beeeeeeeeeee' :D

Yes I agree, I think Ricky is brilliant and I would love him to stay long term.

Can't wait to see the wonderful Darth Ronnie back  . It's a shame Charlie is leaving, but Declan wasn't going to stick around forever.

They need to take Roxy in a new direction, she is always stuck in the same rut.

To be fair it looked like he was. They'd finally killed off Nick and introduced an adult male to carry on the Cotton name. They gave him a son, married him to a Mitchell and isn't he working at the car lot? With Jake Wood leaving there was the opportunity to make him the manager there. He even survived the end of the Nick plot which we all thought was the only reason he was introduced. Now they decide to axe him?

I like Sam Womack and Ronnie but she really does need to step it up if she'll be playing a central role this Autumn. Her performances in 2015 haven't really been good enough so far and I want everyone featured heavily between September to Christmas firing on all cylinders.

I actually love the idea of Charlie/Kirsty.

Just get him away from the Mitchell sisters and he'd become a lot more likeable.

I expect we'll see Charlie, Andrew or Dotty back in a few years to carry on the Cotton name but for now, I'm quite happy with Dot.

Rose would always be an easy recast if June Brown ever decided to leave. I'd like a care storyline leading to Dot passing away with her family around her if this was the case.

Anytime I've thought about Dot's exit, it's been exploring her loneliness. Dot's most interesting moments for me have been when she's been alone in her house and she is contemplating how alone she is in the world. To me, that's the essence of Dot's character. In her mind, it's just her and her God, because everyone else leaves her.

But as an actual swansong, she would of course be proved wrong. She'd come home one day and Fatboy would have arranged a party for her (for whatever reason) and there would be Kirsty and Rose and Charlie and Nigel and Carol (who would turn down June Brown's goodbye) and Abi and all those people who really love Dot and finally she would see just how cared for she was. She'd have her one on one scenes and heartfelt chats. Saying goodbye without saying goodbye. And when they all leave she sits in her living room and she sees all the pictures of those she has loved and lost and instead of mourning them, she smiles because she had them in the first place, and she sits in her arm chair and that's that. Finally content. Night night Dot.
"I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver

It would be fun to also see Dot's "waifs and strays" return-Mary, Disa and Hazel. I'm sure I'm leaving out one or two-was Mandy one of them? And then there's Donna, who died from an overdose in Dot's sitting room.
