Is there a reason why we have seen so little of her? It's becoming really jarring, for me at least. I don't expect her to be part of massive storylines, but the fact that her father is in a relationship and having a baby with Stacey, yet she hasn't even shared a scene with her yet is quite odd. We got that scene earlier in the week with Sonia, but the character, who is played by a very capable actress, is such a non-entity, when really she should be starting to show a bit of individuality. I want to see her struggle with her mum being in a relationship with a woman. I want to see how she feels about her dad having a new family. I want to see her with the other young characters. I want to see her interact with her father's girlfriend. We are getting nothing.

The actress is 16 isn't she? Would she have been doing her GCSEs this year? Hopefully going into the rest of the year and into next she will become more prominent. There is potential here for the character to be the next big thing, and the family she is part of, as well as the characters, like Stacey and the Carters, who she is becoming associated with, means that there really is a foundation for Rebecca to become a central character on the Square.

Any thoughts? Where should she go in the future?

I want an eating disorder storyline from her as many teen girls are pressuring into 'beach ready' bodies,I thought Liam would actually get a eating disorder storyline but I would recommend this to Lucy but she's dead...

That would actually be a very interesting development. She's in that age bracket where I suppose there is the most pressure, from the media and from boys her age. It would also be fascinating to explore how her family would react. We saw Sonia suspect Liam was having problems, but what about her own daughter? We've seen how strained that relationship can be and Sonia's "Know-it-all" outlook would be extremely overwhelming for someone suffering with an eating disorder, which happens quite often in reality. Then you have Martin, who would likely be rather clueless about the whole thing. And of course there's the extension to characters like Tina and Stacey who would be involved.

It's a very raw tale to tell, because it is all coming from one young girl's head, but the effect on her and on those around her would be so interesting to explore, and important to draw attention to the issue in the audience.

Good shout.

I thought someone said she was doing her GCSEs this year, which would explain her absence. She's been scarce since that creepy scene where Sonia emotionally manipulated her, even threatening to hit her, but she has been most noticeably absent, especially from scenes in the Jackson house.

This is what I mean when people say they enjoy seeing Martin interact with his "family." His only family members are Ian and Rebecca. We've only seen him interact with Ian when Cindy went missing, and we haven't seen him with Rebecca since the early spring.

I don't know what the kid is feeling toward Sonia and the atrocious Tina. I'd be more than concerned having someone like Tina around my child as a potential source of influence. She's dishonest, feckless, irresponsible and I do get the impression, from what Whitney said to Stacey, that Tina and Sonia trashmouth Martin at every instance, and in front of Rebecca.

From her brief scene recently, it looks as if Rebecca is feeling a bit uneasy about Martin's involvement with Stacey and their baby, and I thought I'd read something about how she's not going to make things easy for them. She obviously wants her parents to reconcile, but we do need to see her more with Martin. I love the thought of Martin, Stacey, Rebecca, Lily and the new baby as a family unit, especially as Sonia only seems to care about herself and Tina.

If Martin dotes over this child and Carol and Liam leave Sonia and Tina alone which would keep Rebecca up at night ;),maybe a homeless, depression or considering DTC make her feel wanted by hooking her up with someone and get her pregnant

I don't mind not seeing her for the moment. Her East End accent annoys me.

Don't forget about Nana Mo.

Jasmine Armfield turned 16 so has probably been busy with her GCSEs

She's been a blink and you'll miss her character ever since she arrived. Hopefully that will change once Jasmine returns from her GCSEs but I wouldn't count on it. For all practical purposes Rebbeca is basically another Denny. Both unwanted child characters the writers have no real plans for but unfortunately got stuck with when they brought the parents back. Still it shouldn't be too hard to come up with something, teenage girls are one of the most easily exploitable sources for drama.

Unfortunately it looks like we might never really get a scene between her and Liam. It'd have been nice to see them bonding a bit. I'm not asking for much just a quick reflective scene on how useless their respective parents are but with him leaving soon that seems unlikely to happen.

I'd rather save any kind of relationship with Liam for when he is eventually played by a competent actor. No point in investing now.

Liam may be going but Rebecca isn't and she could definitely use some advice from her older cousin on how to deal with her rubbish parents going forwards. He's been there.

Really wish Sonia and Tina would fuck off so Rebecca could be utilised and built up as part of that dream unit with Stacey, Martin, Lily, baby Slater-Fowler and Mo. I get goosebumps just thinking about it.
Massive thanks to NickM for this wonderful signature! :)

I think a teen suicide storyline should be explored with a male as I believe males are more likely to commit suicide. This is a fact often ignored by the media.

What will probably happen is that Rebecca will witness something between Stacey and Kush and tell Martin.

Or she could make it up. Then when something does inevitably happen between Stacey and Kush, and Rebecca sees, she will be the girl that cried wolf.
