Pete was five years older than Kathy. Pete would be 70 now if he was alive and Den would be 69. Though Paul Nicholas is 70 in real life I imagine Gavin Sullivan is in his early 60's as Carol Hanley said Sharon's biological father was 16 when he got her pregnant so he would be born circa 1953/1954 so he's younger than Kathy is. |

So how come Den was school mates with Pete but a school sweetheart with Angie who was in the same class as Kathy? Considering they all left school at 16. They would be leaving as Angie and Kathy were entering school, Kathy even mentioned onscreen about the teasing Den did to them. So I am very confused. At best they would have been at school together one year (with the boys in their final year and the girls joining). I just think its a bit confusing something has been rearranged here I am guessing. To be fair Paul Nicholls looks his age and yes the ages mean he would be younger than Kathy but he doesn't look it. He looks older than her. Edited by Jade, 7 Aug 2015, 22:35.

I imagine originally Kathy was meant to be the same age as Den and Pete but was aged down to accommodate Gillian Taylforth's casting and Angie was de-aged too. The best explanation I can think of is that Angie met Den through knowing Kathy's brother Ted Hills outside of school. Ted also knew Gavin Sullivan so there's a backstory there. |

Yep they did indeed age Kathy down after gillian auditioned at first they thought she was to young and pretty for how Julia and Tony had envisioned Kathy but as soon as they heard her speak they knew she was the perfect Kathy.

Absolutely this. As well, it's obvious that Kathy's married a man who's more than a bit well-off - well-off enough to have a private plane. Of course, her appearance, her dress sense and the like, will reflect her financial prosperity. As for the remarks about whatever has or hasn't been done to the actress's face, I think people are forgetting that whilst Gillian Taylforth has looked after herself, in whatever way - and I really don't think she's had lifts or botox, as her neck looks amazingly natural, the fact is that Adam Woodyatt has aged badly; and compared with his portliness, his jowls and bags under his eyes, they both look like characters of the same generation. Kathy was quite young - about eighteen - when she had Ian. |

That's right. Ian was originally fifteen, a year younger than Michelle and Sharon, and Kathy was thirty-four, but Ian was aged by a year to accommodate his romance with Cindy, making him now older than Sharon, and Kathy 18 when he was born. That would mean Kathy would now be 64, but when Kathy and Phil got together in the 90s, it was remarked that Kathy was 11 years older than Phil. Phil recently remarked that he's 54, which is correct, which would now make Kathy 65. |

This is correct. According to Carol Hanley's story in 1990, Gavin was16 and she was 14 when Sharon was born. Gavin would be 62 or 63 at the moment. Yes, Nicholas is 70, but he could easily play someone of that age. People age at different rates. I'm not against them saying Gavin is even 64 or 65, but if they make him an age contemporary of Den/Pete, then you're getting into the realms of creepiness with Carol's young age. |

BTW, this is all she's had done, and since that was the first procedure at all, done in her 60th year, I'd say she probably took very good care of herself. |

Yeah not buying it. I am noy knocking her for it but I don't believe for a second its healthy living only. But maybe Gavin convinced Kathy to get a good surgeon in the show to keep it in character somewhat. You simply don't get less wrinkles and lifts in certain areas. Nature doesn't work that way. My brother who is a doctor but to be fair not a cosmetic surgeon doesn't watch EE but saw her in the newspaper, recognises her obviously and he told me it was probably more than I thought it was. I think he is bang on and I trust him more than people for whatever reason cover it up. He explains how nature works and its impossible. Sam Womack says she doesn't do her lips, you seem to think she does. I personally don't care and with Ronnie I can believe she would. As long as it doesn't affect their performances. Why I am glad Jessie stopped the botox I don't care if she does but it affected her performances. Besides I actually prefer Jessie less made up, I think she was stunning when she is in her own make up. But agree to disagree. Edited by Jade, 8 Aug 2015, 00:06.

Discussing an actors appearance is against the rules... Can we move on? It's very repetitive reading speculation about Gillian's visual/actual age every time Kathy gets mentioned. I come on here to read discussion, not recycling... |

No it isn't. I thought it was only if we were being rude about them? Which I certainly wasn't being as I said fair play to Gillian (notice no judgement on her for it) not sure if its in keeping with Kathy or anyone else in this thread from what I can see. Now anyone I said she looks "Ugly, gross" whatever you might have a point. Nobody did that, quite the opposite! If all appearance stuff was banned how come its fine to say they look nice, this baby is cute whatever. Nobody has an issue with that do that. If that's the case members constantly break the rules in nearly every episode thread. If I am wrong can a mod please tell me in this thread, then a member please. But you do have a point about going way off topic. So we shall move on hence why I said agree to disagree ie trying to move on, nobody replied on that matter so others were doing the same, for some reason was brought back up. Baiting as explained at the top is against the rules. If you want to reply on that matter I wont respond as we have gone off topic. |

No, I'm fine thank you Jade. I don't need any explanation on the baiting rule as I have seen that page. As said above, moving back onto topic... Edited by NevermindMe, 8 Aug 2015, 19:22.
