I was a Chelsea fan. This is the perfect time for a Chelsea return due to the situation with Dean. She was the closest thing he has had to a true love and it'd be interesting how he would react tonher nowadays.

Sorry, I disagree with this. He always made himself a nuisance, buzzing around her - but then he buzzed around Dawn and (shock, horror!) Shabnam I, and all treated him with appropriate disdain. (That is, until in this reincarnation, Shabnam got drunk enough to have sex with him and have his child).

Chelsea showed enough interest in him to serve her own selfish (and somewhat ignorant) purpose in manipulating him to lie to the police about Patrick's mugging, to frame Sean.

IIRC, when Dean returned to prison, he was so angry, he scared the living shit out of Chelsea.

Weak, obsessed character played by a one-trick pony actress.
What do you disagree with?

I never said he was Chelsea's true love. But she was the closest thing to his, otherwise he wouldn't have risked jail for her.

The rest of your post relates nothing to what I said.

He didn't risk jail for her. Both of them were stupid enough to believe that Sean would go to prison for a crime he didn't commit. They never once considered their little caper would get discovered, especially after Kevin and Denise burned the CCTV video showing Craig mugging Patrick. They were even celebrating in the pub when the police entered. Carly had the fortitude and intelligence to make a copy of the tape.

Even then, Kevin and Denise totally misinterpreted what their brief said. He advised them to have Chelsea and Dean plead guilty and receive a reduced sentence, but they totally thought that by pleading guilty, they'd get a slap on the wrist and community service. Both of them shat themselves when they were sentenced. Dean left the court, crying for Shirley. He was totally flabbergasted at the thought of going to prison, because neither he nor Chelsea ever imagined it until it actually happened.

He risked nothing for her. She was arrogant enough to think she could get back at a man who dumped her for her less-attractive stepsister, and he was stupid enough to believe Chelsea.

Lacey was the golden goose back then and it meant no one else had their moment in the limelight.
No offense but that's total rubbish, Tiana Benjamin was in the show for four years and she had more than enough time and material to prove herself as a good actress and IMO she failed miserably, I realise you have a different opinion regarding her acting ability but I don't know how you can say she didn't get her chance to shine because she certainly did.
No offense taken. But stating my opinion as total rubbish is rude. Especially when no reasons have been given.

Can you honestly say that Tiana was given the chance to shine like Lacey was? I'm not saying Tiana is as good as Lacey or that Stacey was as solid as a character as Chelsea but Stacey only got so great because of the writing and investment in her character.

Stacey went from Stax into her relationship with Callum, caught up in the Danielle story, her bipolar breakdown, reuniting with Bradley and his death. With no real time in between. Also getting caught up in Sean's exit, Who Killed Archie and Bradley/Syd/Claire stuff.

Whereas Chelsea had her big story with Sean and Dean, with Patrick's attack triggering it off, her two weeks cocaine addiction which was iust a catalyst for Lucas and Denise's return and her brief involvement in Lucas' serial killer story where she was soon packed off.

If Chelsea and Tiana were given the same time, writing and potential to develop that Lacey and Stacey were given then she could have also became a very solid and interesting character. And Tiana could really have developed in the same way Lacey did.

Yes but why did he believe Chelsea because he thought she loved him and had a misguided loyalty towards her.

Their relationship could be really fascianting now.

I really only remember her for the blink and you'll miss it drug addiction, which was very badly handled, and for shagging Grant (OMG that's 9 years ago!!!). She was good at the bitchy one liners. It was a throw away (and much-maligned) side plot, but I quite liked her rivalry with Clare Bates when they were having a 'bitch-off' at tanya's salon. The stuff with Deano was meh. What else? Lucas...that was more about Denise. She was underused and wasnt that memorable when she was used beyond the bitchy one liner role. She never became a leading lady for that age bracket. Someone said that Stacey took all the big plots for that age range in that era. I think that's my assessment too. However, Stacey was a much better character played by a better actor..so perhaps that was a no brainer for the programme makers.

There's probably much that could be told for Chelsea, so if she came back I wouldn't be disappointed, but I wouldn't be excited either. So long as Denise is about, it feels like it's just a matter of time anyway (either with Tiana or a recast). I would like to see Denise's family built into a bigger force. The Hubbards are not what I mean...

My current theory is that Chelsea will return... as a man. Now hear me out. Does it make total sense for her character? Probably not but if they're going to explore trans issues they might as well do it with a family we've known and loved for years. They could introduce a totally new character, some random woman who used to be a man but imagine how much more impact it will have seeing a mother we've loved for years having to come to terms with and eventually accept that her daughter is now her son.
Warning: Posts made by The Local Butcher may contain sarcasm, frustrated expressions of fatigue in the face of Eastenders' neverending insanity, desperate and ill-conceived attempts to be funny, controversial opinions and nuts. Not necessarily in that order.

I cant see that. I can see the transgender gender character having links to other but he or she will be a new character.
When the character arrives I bet sadly there is 100+ complaints and horrid twitter abuse.

No ta. Vain halfwit of a character, and a fairly poor actress to boot, as far as I'm concerned.

She just seemed like a character that was there for a few years and that was that. Nothing ground breaking to me. I don't remember her first or last scenes. I always forget she went to prison just like Deano did simply because we saw more of his perspective in all that. Completely forgot she was with Grant for a while.
