Okay, so I'm guessing there's been questions like this before, but I'm so curious. If you were the new EastEnders executive producer, who would you reintroduce/introduce/axe? What are some of the big changes you'd make? |

I would start by fixing the fence around the gardens. I would also make the reason for Kathy faking her death a big storyline point rather than just something dealt with in a few episodes like Den's return. I'd get rid of the laundrette. Its more of a burden now than an iconic set. Its not like I'd be building a shopping centre over the whole Square. And if Kat and Alfie came back I'd have Jake Moon return at last. |

I'd make Les linked with Donna somehow, then get Claudette, Vincent, Les and Donna to fuck off somewhere i dont even know or care. I would double whatever Lindsay Coulson is currently getting paid so she stays, make Denise front and center of the Fox household, make Kim more mature, make Abi go on a rampage and smash the place where Paul or Ben works, give something Diane can really get her teeth into, bring Grant back, make Grant sort Jane out because I kind of liked those two together to be honest, make Ian less of a prick, bring Tanya back because Abi fucking needs her but I don't want her to go and move in with her because I love her on the square, give a storyline to Cora, Kathy!!!!!, promote Carmel to a main, introduce a fabulous, scandalous, incredible, attractive, character that everyone loves and name it after myself. (joking), bring Lola back and make her, Jay and Lexi move in to an apartment or something i'll give them a nice set up, bring Honey back for Billy and see them raise Janet together, give Abi an eating disorder storyline so Lorna can showcase her stuff, Kim and Denise being independent and showing you don't need a man to be happy. i dont know really

The first thing I'd do is swing the axe. This time last year I don't think there was anyone I wanted rid of, but now there's an abundance of deadwood which this week has really highlighted. Ronnie, Dean, Vincent, Claudette and Les would be the first to go, then Roxy, Kim, Pam and Paul would all have to prove their worth as characters or be next to go. |

1. Axe several minor characters who haven't worked - Claudette, Vincent, Les, Pam and Lee & Whitney. 2. Bring Diane Parish front and centre, along with Lacey Turner. 3. Have one or two slow burn stories over a 9-12 month arc, but also quick stories that are completed within several weeks/months so the audience don't get bored. |

I'd axe: Vincent (death - falls off R&R balcony?!) Ronnie (mental institute) Roxy (just goes) Jane (comeuppance needed) Dean (comeuppance needed) Lee (leaves) Whitney (goes with Lee) Les (dies) Sonia (don't care, just get rid) Donna (leaves) Billy (happy ending) Bring back: Steven (Ian and Jane disown him but Kathy who knew him as a baby takes him under her wing) Peter Vicki Johnny Zainab Peggy maybe Jean & Ollie?! Tanya (briefly for Abi) Honey (for Billy's exit, they leave reunited) Lola (got potential still, could get back with Jay) My main family would be the Beales followed by the Masoods and Mitchells. I'm happy with the Carters in the Vic Denise, Cindy and Jay also need huge stories Cora would be more likeable Camille Coduri would take over the car lot and maybe replaces the portakabin with a brick building - she has a 31 year old daughter and 25 year old son. Maybe rather than a car lot it's an estate agent? Better story blocking than the drop-then-pickup format we have now Divorce Sharon & Phil; Sharon becomes more like her 2001/01 self, a great mentor to the young people around her; Phil goes back on the booze and hits rock bottom - possibly homeless for a few months sitting in the market asking for change? Turn the Laundrette into a Post Office or knock the Minute Mart through A new GP R&R turned into something else (who even owns it and is it ever open?! The Albert seems to have replaced it in function) With Steven, Johnny, Ben and Paul on the Square we wouldn't just pair guys up for the sake of it. Would Paul want a proper relationship with Ben beyond their affair? |

Right now I'll post this but I'll do a rundown for each character later-With an unlimited budget in mind... I'd first cull some of the cast... Donna Yates Makes her unlikeable throughout the whole Square with only Claudette and Vincent by her side, after she decides that she has support of her family, the affair reveal means she rethinks her plan and leaves at dawn Aunt Babe After her secret with Queenie Trott is revealed her family turn against her and Sylvie refuses to live with her so she walks off, trifle in hand and leaves in her car Sylvie Carter After the rape reveal,Sylvie 'hears' Stan asking to join him and jumps off a balcony, killing herself Denny Rickman Jr Sharon sends him off to boarding school,he'll return as a rebel teenager, idc to be honest we never see him anyway Considering I can't make these people stay.. Carol Jackson Despite Robbie begging for Carol to leave with him and the Butcher-Jacksons wanting her to stay she decides she's been held back too long so she gets on her motorbike and goes off into the sunset saying 'It's my life now' Charlie Cotton Him and Roxy plan to leave but Roxy pulls out,he says goodbye to Dot and leaves Matthew at home,he gets on the train as he throws his wedding ring in the bin Max Branning After Carol is successful in getting him out he realises the only person now(Carol's gone) is Abi deciding he doesn't want to live with a daughter like her,he goes off to Jack Liam Butcher He doesn't want to be part of Cindy's games or Sonia'a antics so he leaves in the night with Ricky |

I would focus on making the male cast stronger, bring in a few recruits to help this and help improve the characterisation for the male characters overall. Focus on a more equal show. Emmerdale gets their balance more right out of the big three soaps I think, even though the Dingles/Bartons are quite heavily prominent, the other families/characters still get their big moment to shine and there is always something for everyone. Give Denise Fox and Diane Parish a big storyline, put her at the centre of the show. Bring back Jean and Ollie for Stacey .

Out: Ronnie, Dean, Jane, Sonia, Tina, Les, Claudette, Vincent and Donna. It's already been foreshadowed this week that Vincent and Dean aren't long for this world, with Buster's warning that Dean, as the messenger of Ronnie's deceit, might get pegged in the end, and also with Buster's remark that Vincent's a "dead man." Ronnie would kill Dean and die in the process with Vincent. Sooner, rather than later, the Lucy mystery would be solved. Bobby gets sectioned and sent to a hospital for young people with mental disorders. Jane goes to prison - for a LONG time. Cindy goes back to Devon, after she and Ian agree to turn Crown evidence against Jane. Kathy sets up home with Ian - no cougar affairs, no skulking around after Phil. She can be a glamourous granny, but the show has to remember the character's age. Sonia and Tina just feck off Les, Claudette and Donna are run out of town. After Abi acts like the spoiled brat she is, when she finds out about Ben and Paul, I'd have Lauren return, smack her and send her to live with Tanya. Cora and Lauren set themselves up in Max's house. Whilst I'd like for Kathy to live with Ian, I really think it only fitting that Kathy live in Pat's house. I see her as the successor to Pat's legacy. I wouldn't bring characters like Grant or Sean back, because as much as the actors might esteem the show, and rightly so, I think they've both moved on. I do miss Janine, however. When the Carters' tenure at the Vic is up, whenever Danny Dyer decides as much, I'd love to see Janine buy it. |

I'd axe Dean, Ronnie, Tamwar, Fatboy, Les, Babe, Vincent and Claudette. Vincent I'd kill off as the start of the riot storyline I posted about a couple of days ago, and Claudette would leave at the end of it. I'd kill off Les, Tamwar and Babe during the riots for good measure (Tamwar would burn to death because I'm sadistic like that). Ronnie would go to prison for killing Dean when he tries to rape her (double karma, two birds one stone). Fatboy would get an insignificant exit for an insignificant character (this decade's Gus Smith). I'd bring back Zainab (following Tamwar's death), Joe and Sarah as a couple, and Janine if possible. And Mrs Patel of course. I'd seriously reconsider bringing Kat and Alfie back, but I'd give Laila Morse the respect she deserves and make her the matriarch of the new Fowlers. Undecided on what I'd do with Sonia and Tina. Testicular cancer storyline for Billy. Marriage and kids for Lee and Whitney. Possibly bring back Steven to piss Jane off and get under her skin about Lucy. Look into recasting Peter and reuniting him with Lauren. More fabulousness for Sharon (and a late in life Mitchell baby). No bullshit cheating storylines for Mick and Linda/Phil and Sharon/Jane and Ian. Abi vs Ben and Paul. Get Nancy a boyfriend who doesn't drag her down. |

I'd probably walk around the set a lot touching things and use my access to the marketing and publicity material to make a decent website that acknowledges the show pre 2007. Then I'd sit down and think about what to do with the production side of things... |

I would put a lot more effort into Stacey and Martin. If their couple is meant to be a bedrock of the show going forward the foundations need to be so much stronger than what they're currently laying. They don't have the natural chemistry of a lot of successful couples so they need a lot more work from the writing. It's important to get them right in the early stages if they're intended to be endgame. I would axe Ronnie, Roxy (served their function very well in the Santer era but are spent and redundant now) Dean, Sonia, Tina, Les, Claudette, Donna, Fatboy and maybe even Kim. Jane would need a temporary break serving jail time. I would give Pam, Paul and Vincent time to improve. Pam should build up a friendship with Big Mo. Paul should be axed after the Ben reveal if he hasn't improved. Vincent should be remoulded as more of a businessman than gangster to fit Blackwood's limitations better. The Fox family should be built around Denise not Kim. I'd consider a return for Chelsea just to give Denise a little more prominence. The Beales and Mitchells are working well, I wouldn't change anything there. Same with the Masoods. Actually I think I'd bring Steven Beale back. It would be nice for Cindy to have her half brother there and I think without Lucy or Peter he'd be very valuable, so much rich history with him as well. I'd keep the Carters in The Vic but I'd keep them to small, relatable little family dramas like Lee's depression and Jonny coming out. I like them but not when they're front and centre so I'd keep them pared down which is how I think they work best. I'd bring back a recast Liam Butcher. He and Cindy can be a future power couple with the right actor in the role and he's so well connected with so much potential. Big Mo should be given a permanent role and Charlie Slater should be put on recurring status. I would absolutely bring back Kat and Alfie, they are Walford living legends and not many characters can say that, and unlike say Bianca are played by actors who actually love the show and are passionate about their characters. Kat is a modern day soap icon and Kat & Alfie is an iconic couple. Along with Adam Woodyatt, Letitia Dean, Steve McFadden and Lacey Turner, Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie are the two actors they should be doing everything they can to hang onto. I would build a strong family unit around Kat and Alfie, a great, tight-knit multi generational family. Kat's son would join and he'd have a teen son who can be part of the Liam/Cindy/Bex unit and a teen daughter who can give Kat a new Zoe type figure to take under her wing. Spencer and Vicki would come back recast and remoulded as characters. Alfie would be given a foil, the Fowlers would further be rebuilt and restored, more Watts presence would offset Gavin and you'd get a really strong Fowler/Slater/Moon unit. (Big Mo > Charlie > Kat, Alfie > Kat's Son, Vicki, Spencer > Kat's teen Grandchildren > Tommy, Bert, Ernie and then across the square Martin, Stacey, Bex, Lily, Baby Slater Fowler.....that's a great strong, multi generational family set-up to span years and years) I'd give Billy more prominence. Perry Fenwick is one of the longest serving actors and he delivers when given the material. Even though I haven't been clamouring for her return I'd consider bringing back Little Mo just because I think it would strengthen his position. Freddie would be a similar age to Bobby (and in fact if I recall was Bobby's first victim. He hit him with a stick in the park!) and Denny and seeing as it was Freddie that sort of ended Billy and Mo's marriage it would be interesting to see how Billy would connect to him. Billy, Little Mo, Freddie and Janet would make a nice little family unit together and a very well connected one on both sides. Once Billy was part of a solid unit again I'd give him a big story. |
