Ofcom Complaints; What do people think of this?

So I read today that Ofcom have decided not to take any further action over the complaints they received about Carol swearing at Max by calling him a "bastard".

Quite frankly I'm glad they're not taking any further action. I can see how people would be offended about Ben and Paul kissing in the funeral parlour simply because it was done in front of a dead body and I can get that would be seen as disrespectful. However, I don't think that Carol saying "bastard" is bad, it's entirely within the type of characters that she and Max are and the type of programme EastEnders is. I know the watershed is 9pm but surely common sense should be applied watching programmes airing before 9pm?

I'm of the opinion now that people just complain about EastEnders for the sake of complaining.

What does everyone else think?

Exactly what I was thinking! Most of the people that complain about EastEnders nowadays haven't watched it in years, so therefore would not have seen the storyline. Carol was frustrated by Max so surely it is entirely within her character to call him a bastard?

I'm completely confused as to how this got complaints but Liam and Cindy having sex got none.

Or Tina's endless remarks about Sonia's boobs. Can we complain about that?
Or Nat Cassidy's crimes against acting :p

I'm glad they are not taking action. The complaints seem a bit pathetic to me.

I am not over it. Haven't complained yet. But I will admit the sex next to the dead body was a bit erm odd. I was like ok we having EE necrophilia edition. Glad we didn't.
Your approval is neither desired nor required.

Julia Smith "We decided to go for a realistic, fairly outspoken type of drama which could encompass stories about homosexuality, rape, unemployment, racial prejudice, etc., in a believable context. Above all, we wanted realism".

I don't think I could get *ahem* stiff standing next to a stiff, but whatever floats Ben and Paul's boats I guess...

Funny how no one complained to Ofcom about Indiana Jones saying "Holy s**t" at 19:55 a few Saturdays ago on BBC One during "Raiders of the Lost Ark".

I always found the 'bastard' complaints a bit excessive as it isn't unbelievable that Carol or Max would use that language and one of the major issues I have with soaps in general is that have to continually justify or defend using believable language due to the complaints culture of over-reacting though I understand the negativity to the funeral parlour sex scene.
