I really want Denny's anger to be explored,it could lead into a parental abuse storyline

It's not something I've ever thought about to be honest.
Would you use Janet more or Lily or Amy more?
Mormon Girl, I'm not trying to be rude in any way, so I hope you don't take offence, but you don't need to repeatedly ask people these questions. If anyone has a strong opinion on Janet or Amy or Lily, they will post them. I understand that your curious, but just let people post what they want.

Anyway, on the actual topic, it's not like the youth have been wiped out. The young people of a few years back are mostly still there, but they've grown. I like them having their own stories that aren't directly related to being young. I mean I wouldn't be totally against a character coming in as a friend for Rebecca, but young characters work as part of an established family. So I have to say, the ages of the characters really isn't important as I don't expect their stories to be categorised simply because of the demographic they fit into.
"I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver

I understand that but I want the young children to be used more. In Emmerdale they use a few children alot and one of them is only played by a cute 7 year old who has won 3 awards at the age of 6 and that is because they use her alot and the actress can act. Remember when Tiffany Butcher first appeared in Eastenders they used her alot and Maisie won 3 awards for her role as Tiffany. I would like Lily, Amy, Janet and Dennis to be used more so then I can tell if Aine Garvey. Abbie Knowles and Harry Hickles can act. Emmerdale viewers know Eden Taylor Draper, Amelia Flanagan, Sophia Amber Moore, Daisy Campbell, Alfie Clark, Annelise Manojlovic and Joe Warren Plant can act because they have had serious stuff like crying and shouting scenes to act out. Emmerdale did a storyline when Sarah Sugden was quite ill and they used the actress alot in the storyline. Coronation Street are about to do a child cancer storyline. I think Eastenders should do a storyline when Lily or Amy get two types of Leukemia and see how Stacey or Roxy cope, I would like to see a storyline when a child like Dennis goes missing and the body is found and the viewers know who did it. I would like to see hoe Billy copes with Janet's needs.

I always feel its very rare that EE gets the casting right for its young characters, Although I did like Mime has Cindy, Did they have to make so many young teenage girl Pregnant? I don't mind the young lad who plays Bobbie either.

Even though he is hardly seen I am not a fan of Dennis at all. I have to admit I preferred mute Amy to fake Amy. Lily is fine.

I don't watch Emmerdale that often but when I do watch the the odd episode their youngsters seem really natural and with the right dialogue I'm not sure if its their accent that makes them more natural.

Eastenders does need families with children because they make up a community however the balance needs to be right has does the casting.

EE has found some good child actors.

Rebecca Michael and Natalie Cassidy portrayed children very strong. Melissa Suffield worked better when younger. Charlie and Shana were good as the Miller twins too.

Then we've had dire actors like James Forde, Michael Joel Stuart, Charlie Jones, Shenice.

Natalie Cassidy, like Corrie's Sam Aston, was a brilliant child actor. Then they grew up. Somewhere between puberty and adolescence, both these actors became seriously bad.

I agree with this. And also In My Opinion people can disagree if they want but I think Janet is fine as well she is not a brat and she is so cute as well.

They've got a single dad raising a girl with Down's and they're doing absolutely nothing with it. That prety much sums up everything that's wrong with modern Eastenders. In a better show Billy would be a hardworking everyman trying his best to provide for his special needs daughter and all the struggles and frustrations that comes with it, both on Billy's side and on Janet's.

Not on Eastenders. Billy is a complete joke and Janet is just a cute prop who gets wheeled out every once in a while. Neither character is taken seriously and they're just completely glossing over what should be a very profound story about a father and his special needs daughter. This is exactly why I'm growing increasingly disillusioned with the show. They're simply no longer interesting in telling real stories about ordinary people anymore.

Warning: Posts made by The Local Butcher may contain sarcasm, frustrated expressions of fatigue in the face of Eastenders' neverending insanity, desperate and ill-conceived attempts to be funny, controversial opinions and nuts. Not necessarily in that order.

I agree about Melissa Suffield, Natalie Cassidy, Rebecca Michael, Shana Swash and Charlie G Hawkins. I actually thought James Forde wasn't too bad when he was younger and I thought Charlie Jones wasn't too bad in the abuse storyline when Stella was abusing Ben.

I don't think the Girl playing Janet can film that much plus the BBC is limited on these sort of storylines in case it is accused of being politically biased. I think that's one reason so few characters ever seem to be shown to collect benefits.
Also storylines like that do get boring after a while because where does it lead to

This doesn't bother me much but I find the lack of Rebecca/Bex completely bizarre. Jasmine Armfield seems like a fairly decent actress too. It would be interesting to see how she copes with having her Mother in a relationship with another woman, her Father in a relationship with a woman he has known for five minutes and is now pregnant, her uncle being in prison, there is a bunch of stuff to be done with her. Has the actress been doing her GCSE's or something?
