I've been checking again and again for this and it was finally uploaded today. All four producers of the main soaps, Daran Little, Kellie Bright and Sally Ann Matthews sit on a panel discussing soaps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APq28IEu3Uw |

Ahhh, thank you. You angel. |
| "I loved it in the Olden Days because you talked more. There’s more action now. You know, we would do scenes in the Rovers of me, Bet and Doris Speed with a cup of coffee each before we opened the pub, talking about absolute rubbish. But it was something, and it was what people do." - Betty Driver | |

How badly do we reckon Kirkwood was sweating under the collar when they were on about not killing off loved characters? *cough*Pat*cough* |

Do we think Daran Little isn't a huge Blackburn fan or am I looking for the drama? What an excellent panel. Really interesting insight into what goes into working on soaps and the breakdown of the genre. Loved it. Thanks for posting. |

Ten minutes in, and Kirkwood the Bullshitter is making me sick. "We're fast paced", "three cliffhangers an episode", "all types of stories". No, mate, incorrect. Hollyoaks is none of those things - it's shit. You don't know how a soap should work.

The fact that there was an actor that had been on Corrie for 10 years that was sacked because they didn't agree with how a character was behaving is pretty shameful. |

Watching it now. Very interesting so far. Is DTC not wearing any socks? I'm not sure I approve. |

I love the story about the Emmerdale producer of the time not being told about Kim's return until they got back from holiday. Kirkwood openly acknowledging that he's catering for viewers with low attention spans though.

As is the way it was so callously talked about. |

In all fairness HO has always been fast paced, it suits the show. BK's first stint was great during the whole Clare/Justin/Warren saga, that era was great, but this time it hasn't worked out! |

Oh my lord, Kate "Don't take that tone!" Oates. ![]() I swear if she wasn't producing Emmerdale she would be having an almighty verbal catfight with Our Shazza right now. |

Sean Wilson as Martin Platt? I know he left because he didn't agree with Martin starting a relationship with a under age girl |

The issue with Hollyoaks is that it's too fast paced though. If I don't watch EastEnders or Corrie for two weeks, it's fairly easy to jump back into, you miss a fortnight of Hollyoaks and six people have been murdered, four explosions have happened, Mercedes has been kidnapped three times and Tom's lost another loved one. It's impossible and you've really got to be on the ball to follow it. |

Some HO fans are so young and do have low attention spans. I mean some of the Stendan fans thought that HO would never be the same again just because Brendan left and that the show existed way much before he appeared and there has been some great characters in the show in the classic years before him. Even now as a young adult I find it amusing how some people (not on here of course) label all HO fans as teenagers. I mean I wish I could live out my teenage years again sometimes .

Also the amount of character's sexualitys that change to suit story is fucking ridiculous. Imagine how livid we'd be if Max was suddenly gay? (Tbf that story would have me like O_O but it wouldn't be true to the character). Hollyoaks don't care about character, they care about story. |

Kate Oates is fab, best soap Producer right now IMO . I was surprised at how young she was at first when she did her first interview after taking over at Emmerdale, what an impact she has had there since taking over.

Yeah, there was. Pat flicks through a book that has pictures of Phil, Grant, Alex Healy (?) and I THINK she tells Kathy to choose. Then Kathy wakes up, the theme tune begins and the episode starts. The dream was pre credits. |
