Gary Beadle Not Ruling Out a Return of Paul Truman No, just no. And I adored the character of Paul Truman, but this is getting beyond ridiculous now, the fact that characters who met their ends off-screen, now lobby surreptitiously for a possible return. Beadle is downbeat, and he's certainly getting work, albeit work where he plays Paul Truman by a different name, and, yes, Patrick has mentioned Paul several times recently, but in relation to his similarities to Vincent[ but Patrick did identify Paul's body. Immediately after Gillian Taylforth appeared as Kathy, Michelle Collins was grinding an axe about Cindy's possible return, now we have this. Please. No more resurrections. Let it end here. |

If they were going to resurrect another character, I like to think they'd resurrect one with a bit more impact and familiarity than Paul bleeding Trueman. |

I'm not sure it was meant to be taken as a serious comment, tbh. And at the end of the day just because Gary has said this, doesn't mean it would ever happen. Ultimately, it's not his decision to make that call. |

I'm all for any resurrections if it is believable and the story warrants it. |

The only resurrection I'd accept would be Jake Moon. Cindy Beale would be very tempting if Lucy was still alive and Steven/Peter/Cindy Jr still around, however. |

There is really only one conceivable character they can bring back. A major character who lives off screen and is not dead. Admittedly, she would need a new head, and I know we have talked about it many times, but if the likes of Martin or Peter Beale can have new heads, then I dont see why she cant. No, I dont mean Peggy. |

But Jake's ending was always ambiguous, yet this time around, Alfie rarely mentioned Spencer, much less Jake or Danny. |

Paul had a fantastic exit. We didn't need to see him shot in the skull. His parting scene was strangely optimistic for a man heading for execution. And Patrick and Yolande's grief was shown perfectly. A return would cheapen it. Normally if a storyline is done to death (like pregnancy) I will say that there needs to be less of that type of storyline for the time being. But dead characters returning from the dead is one they should never ever do again ever. Jake Moon could come back as he wasn't specifically killed. But there is nothing for him to come back for right now. |

I agree. Cindy was without doubt one of the biggest mistakes in the shows history. To kill a character off screen like that when there was nothing to be gained from it was incredibly foolish. The Beale's can be rebuilt with a Peter and Cindy recast down the line and so it would have been perfect to bring Cindy back at this juncture, especially with Kathy now back, but sadly there is no feasible way for her to return that would be grounded enough in reality. |

I'm waiting to see how Gary Beadle's career goes after ' In the Heart of the Sea ' is in cinemas . I don't think he will ever return to Eastenders anyway , I think he was asked the question and he answered it the best he could without offending anyone . |

Well to be honest, on Emmerdale Frank Tate identified Claire's body and she turned out not to be dead. |

But Cindy is technically not a Beale. If they had made Liam Beths father, it would have been different. Peter, Bobby and Laurens baby are the only hope there. I just hope Kathy didnt have a secret child during the past few years while she has been on the run. |

I still think Brian Slater will turn out to be alive. Stacey will see him. Nobody will believe her, they'll think she's going crazy because she's off her meds She'll be insistent, she'll track him down and find this whole new family. |

Kathy is 65. She would have been 56 when she and Gavin disappeared. I think they'd have had something better to do with the money from the insurance scam than to do some sort of in vitro egg implant to give Kathy a child in her late fifties. |

Brian Slater was never a character, and I believe both Sean and Jean saw his body after death. That storyline is less about Brian and more about Brian in relation to Jean's illness juxtaposed with Martin dealing with Stacey. Sonia's already written Martin off as being too weak to deal with Stacey's bi-polar, and Stacey waxed lyrical about how well her dad coped with her mother's illness, and Sonia - actually with quite a good perspective - pointed out that Stacey only remembers that from a child's point of view. Jean kept wittering on about Brian being a good man who just "lost his way" interposed with assertions that he was her husband, seems to be leading to a story of Brian, at first, having an affair as a release from the pressures of dealing with Jean, then falling in love, bigamously marrying the woman and having a second family. I believe Sean found out about this, confronted him about it and that was the gist of their final argument. I don't think Brian is alive, but I think some of his other children, Stacey's half-siblings and possibly their mother, might be. |

I was being a bit silly when I wrote that last sentence. I really hope EE doesnt fall in the realms of the ridiculous US soaps, evil twins/abducted by aliens...... (no offence Mrs Peel) |

Out of curiosity Mrs. Peel, do you think that the second family is the second family he had or that Jean/Sean/Stacey was the second family. Brian was a few years older than Jean so I wonder if Jean might be the bigamous wife rather than the first wife and Stacey and Sean have older half-siblings instead of younger half-siblings. I do think that Jean is the other woman in this and that Brian went back and forth, but what is your opinion on it? I could see it going either way. |
