I think Jean was Brian's wife. The fact that the Slaters always considered her thus, attended her wedding (Jean referenced this at the time Stacey and Bradley married the second time), and no one has ever mentioned a first wife or any prior relationship - unlike Max, whose family made it abundantly clear that they didn't approve of him leaving Rachel and Bradley in order to marry Tanya and they didn't approve of Tanya.

I think the rationale behind the second bigamous family is going to be Brian finding it difficult to cope with Jean at sometime, meeting another woman and getting involved, eventually leading to either a bigamous marriage or establishing a relationship/family with this woman.

At no time do I think Jean, Sean and Stacey were Brian's bigamous family. The bigamous family would have been kept secret from everyone, especially the Slaters.
