If she has so many commitments then why on Earth would she be moaning that she's broke? She's just a very selfish, narrow minded old woman who got extremely lucky. |

How can you possibly judge her? Do you know her financial position? Do you know how much she does free for charity at her own cost? Are you in a position to judge her talent? Whether you like her or not, she is 88 years old and doesn't deserve to be judged by people who know nothing of her circumstances. Your not judging the character you are slating the person. It's a form of online bullying and I hate that. Edited by DirtyDen, 17 Sep 2015, 16:46.

I love June. Saw her at the Graham Norton show. She is so sassy but so lovely. She says how it is and how she really feels which i think is so good! |

I think June is alright but she's very eccentric. She was a bit rude and demanding when she was at Graham Norton Show. I think Jessie Wallace was fed up of June when she was sitting next to her. Dot is a legend though

I've always liked June Brown and good on her I say, obviously at her age health etc should be a concern, but June wants to stay active as she is the type of person who would get bored! I have missed Dot too *hides*. |

I think Jessie's issues with June go way back. BSA 2005, anyone? I love June and I hope Dot is around for a good while yet. |

Love June, she's every right to speak her mind. Yes, you could argue she should show more gratitude but the fact that she's still working at her age is gratitude enough if you ask me. |

From what you told me where you were actually there when it was being filmed sounded like she behaved in a very rude manner. I always thought she came across rude but that proved it. There is speaking your mind and being downright rude. So if you see someone behaving that way you call them out. Just like many did about Leslie Grantham. And we luckily weren't there when he committed his sins. For some reason she has every pandering to her. She plays up to it and has a nice little number. I don't find her that talented either. And of course that can be judged as she is an actor and we see her "act" on EE. Edited by Jade, 17 Sep 2015, 21:22.

Your approval is neither desired nor required. Julia Smith "We decided to go for a realistic, fairly outspoken type of drama which could encompass stories about homosexuality, rape, unemployment, racial prejudice, etc., in a believable context. Above all, we wanted realism". | |

Erm? Do you know everyone from my generation? Today's younger people (and I guess this affects people the generation below me even more) have hard time finding jobs as it is. Then so many jobs get turned into free labour (work experience as its called) where they're lucky to even get a decent reference. I do my voluntary job with intent to not fall into slacker territory and I think I'm doing quite well. But I'm told because there is no money attached to it I've achieved nothing. What is also hideous is the right wing attitude of "If THOSE TYPES want more money then why don't THOSE TYPES just work longer hours?" attitude. You can work all the hours humanely possible and put in so much effort and still not get a pay rise. It doesn't matter what my generation or any other generation does. If the government decides that your pension is going to be nothing then nothing it shall be. Edited by BigApe, 17 Sep 2015, 22:34.

Jessie and June don't have issues. Jessie's real life partner is June's Godson and friend. Jessie and June have been pictured together in real life. |

I am not going to turn this into a debate (if you want to do that, start a different thread). but as a person a generation or two above you, let me point out a few things. we didnt have it any easier or harder than you. When I started full time work, I was on about 1 pound 12 per hour. Yes, things were cheaper back then, but wages were also low, so it was probably not much different. I have lived through at least 3 financial crisis, the first (and first big one after the crash of the 30s) was for me, the hardest. I was young, single and had just bought my first house. I would go for days with no money until the next pay day. going out and having any sort of social life that involved money was out of the question. My parents, by comparison bought there first house after they were married. 2 years later, they moved into that house and I came along. My father worked a full time job, then had two evening jobs. He also did cashies (a bit on the side) which my mum helped him with. He did this for 7 years and then the house was free hold. As we children got older, mum started working. They had a pretty good life and are now enjoying a moderately comfortable retirement. By comparison, I employ kids of your generation, when I can get them. Most, but not all I find to be lazy and cant be bothered. I would say the ratio of good ones is about 1 in 10. When I find that one, I hang onto them as long as I can. bearing in mind, this is an entry level job and the good ones I want to see succeed and make something of their lives. Most only turn up for the pay packet and soon, even that is not enough to keep them motivated. Generally I always have a vacancy. We live in a farming community, there are always jobs going. Talking to the people who own shops at a larger town just down the road, same thing. Cant get people to work and stay. There are always options, it may not be what you want to do, but guess what? Life is like that. If you commit to a job, you will eventually get to where you want to be, doing what you want. With the right attitude, you will also learn a lot along the way. Your generation needs to stop feeling sorry for themselves, be prepared to do the hard yards, starting at the bottom and stop blaming older people for there woes. Its a very different world to what we grew up in, and when your generation gets to the age of mine, you wont recognise it either. Just make the most of the opportunities around you, dont worry that you have to get on the ladder at the bottom and climb one step at a time, at least you are moving up. There are plenty that wont even try. |

Don't patronise me. I'm hard working. If I was offered a job like that I'd snap it up even if it wasn't one I enjoyed. I know life is hard. I'm not some dickhead that was born yesterday. I have every intention of climbing a ladder. I don't blame others for my woes. I blame myself for my own failings. And I use my failings as education for my own future. I don't have that much respect for my own existence I will admit. I'm not here because of divine intervention. I am here because of science. But I aim to enjoy the fact I'm here. Above all, don't judge me based on the 9 out of 10 younger people in your farming community. End of story. |
